U say this but if it was a case of the rest of the UK, not just England, really had that much to lose then they would of given the vote in the first place? I'm sure it has all been number crunched and although tbh although I couldn't give a rats either way, I think the union does work, even with the scots being anti England! As for oil... I think it's only a matter of time before it becomes less of a commodity needed. The short term yes oil is of a benefit but long term what is the plan?
Please mate first of all read my post... I am voting NO so I like you believe the union works and I want it to remain. That's what NO vote means
Again though this is not about being anti English, I have heard very little anti English comments tbh. People are sick of WESTMINSTER and how they are spending everyone's money on primarily London and the Deep South. Take a look at high speed rail. It's a great example... From London to (now) Manchester, no link to Scotland despite the scots paying large sums for it (and more than the average uk citizen).
I am sure if cities like Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool etc could join us they would. They have the same issues with Westminster....
As for them 'letting us have the vote' lol we got the vote because it was the political will of the Scottish people. Westminster had little to no choice but give us the vote. Scotland through democratic process asked for the vote (by voting SNP) as main party. It wasn't "up to them to give us the vote".
And one last point for anyone who is interested. Being British and part of the UK is not the decision of England OR Westminster. It is owned by us ALL within the union.
TBH that is one thing that p1sses me off about England... It's not yours to give or take. All of the nations own it, not you. It's like saying France owns Europe.
There is a pub up here that this week has put up the flags of Scotland, Wales, NI and ENGLAND yes right here in the Scottish heart lands there is a St. George flag. Why because the owner wants to show his support for the United Kingdom which we are all a part of and ALL own.
