I would like to hear thoughts on this approach to training and the principles of high intensity/low volume.

For anyone interested Mike believed in training every 72-96 hrs with 2 body parts per session and only 1 working set per excersise. This working set would be to complete faliure including negatives and occasionally a single forced rep. Each muscle is trained every 10-12 days.

This is a more extreme approach to Dorian Yates version of HIT. He has a routine for natural bodybuilders but even chemically enhanced the principles are the same and are only slightly different.

I think he had a lot of clients at the time of this book. He wanted them in and out the gym for the next one to pay his bill. I bought his book and it seemed pretentious compared to Arnold’s book and others I’ve read. I do however like Mike mentzer but it’s not the way I respond and I don’t respond to Arnold’s training ways either.

Great theory but listening to him, he says it with great conviction and has his endorsements including Dorian Yates and Aaron Barker. I am my self following his principles although not to the extent of each body part every 12 days but 8 days. My intensity has increased with drop sets and only 1 working set to faliure per excersise. I don't do more than 2-3 excersises per body part and usually 2.

I looked back when I made my best gains and realised it was when I worked out in the gym 3 times a week as opposed to 5 and splitting my body parts. Now it is 2 body parts per session.

Day 1 - Chest / biceps
Day 3 - Legs / Triceps
Day 6 - Back / Shoulders

And repeat. Resting is between 48-72 hrs.
