Favourite Music Artist / Genre

Recommended Posts

Even though I'm only 37, I prefer mostly older music.  U2, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Pink Floyd, Ultravox.  Only recent-ish bands I really like are The Killers, Everything Everything and the odd rock band here and there.  Cannot stand any of the rap/dance stuff that dominates the charts these days.

Punk in the main for me but into many varied bands and artists.

Top of the list are The Hold Steady, Idles, Dr Feelgood, Wilko Johnson, The Clash, Art Brut, Rolling Stones, Tina Turner (pre-solo work), Shara Nelson. Sex Pistols (obviously) and Future Islands. To name a few....

Who's your favourite music artist and or music genre?

Late 70's / early 80's punk and ska.

The past 20 years' misogynistic, pornographic, anti-authoritarian gangsta rap.

Country Western ()

I fu**ing love music. Punk/ska/reggae are my mainstays but also like motown, blues and a bit of 80s commercial rock.

Favourite artists are harder to narrow down; jaya the cat are frequently on my playlists and I try and see them atleast once a year. Leftover crack are another favourite of mine along with dead Kennedys and bad brains.

100% has to be rock and metal.

Metallica, Iron Maiden and AC/DC are my top three.

Recently got really into Stevie Ray Vaughan, an exceptional guitarist and definitely worth a look at on YouTube!!

 My taste is extremely varied.

This! Growing up my parents' taste in music rubbed off on me. Fleetwood Mac, Bowie, Prince, Queen, Genesis, Mike and the Mechanics, Elton John, MJ, Aerosmith, Depeche Mode, Pulp etc.

I was about 13 when Napster took off and I could download whatever I saw on MTV and Kerrang, got more into metal and hip hop at this age. Went to the first Download in 2003 and saw Limp Bizkit, Iron Maiden, Deftones (one of my now favourite bands), Raging Speedhorn, NOFX.. so many great bands. And I fu**ing hated it, quickly found out live music on a large scale isn't for me

I've got everything from rat pack era (shoutout Mack the Knife) to Decapitated on my Spotify, but recently I've been listening to a lot of TOOL and (early) Kanye West, I couldn't name my top spot favourite band or artist though, not sure they exist. Although an album, possibly the only album, that I can listen to start to finish and enjoy every track is Black Water Park by Opeth.

Just love music, me
