Jackoffblades 981 Posted Monday at 05:18 PM Is it okay to swing a bicep curl if your stuck at the same weight? I want to increase the weight I do 8 reps strict but been doing that a long time, now I want to increase the weight, with the weights I have the smallest are 5kg plates so adding 10kg I’m swinging in order to do them. Like is this okay because I’m sure eventually I’ll get more strict form but don’t want to cause injury
monkeybiker 4751 Posted Monday at 05:50 PM If it's a barbell you could get something like a 2 litre bottle of water and loop a it on with some string. That would be 4kg added.
swole troll 12339 Posted Monday at 07:37 PM Cheat curls are an acceptable exercise as part of a routine but I wouldn't want them as my only bicep exercise. Worth noting that you are entirely changing the exercise despite it using the same equipment Yes it is still bicep focused but a cheat curl is not a substitute for a strict curl which will work the full ROM of the bicep rather than an overload of the second portion of the concentric. Why do you want to up the weight? If you are strong enough you will be able to If not then just keep doing more reps. Switching from a strict to a cheat curl because you want to use more weight is like going from a front squat to a back squat because you want to use more weight. Same muscles, different emphasis. epons400 16 Posted Wednesday at 07:24 PM Maybe try and make your strict curl more strict , lean against wall , slower your pace , I bet you struggle to do what you used to do ,
