Holding it just in the hands means that power needs to move down the arms and you lose a fair bit of it. I rest the bar in a similar position to if I was about to do a front squat. Unfortunately I know this but I just don't have the flexibility to have an Oly front rack position. When I front squat my Oly rack is with two fingers on the bar each hand, hahaha.
