best British movie

Along with lockstock/snatch/layer cake already mentioned, I do like the Simon pegg and Nick frost films. Not going to win any Oscars but all entertaining.

From quite a while back, A Matter of Life and Death was way ahead of its time playing out as a heaven and earth fantasy tug of war against a backdrop of WW2 fighter pilots whilst actually being about the fact that a pilot has a brain tumour that needs to operated on.

Sounds jolly.

Trainspotting.

I’m actually terrified of Begby. I’d rather take my chances in a borstal green house than face that psychopath :o

Scum. The rape scene terrified me as a teenager. These days I’d enjoy it.

What, being raped or doing the raping?

Not an easy choice to be fair. Both have its pros and cons.

We used to mimic that scene in the playground in secondary school, just cause we were edgelords before the word edgelord was invented.

Rita, Sue and Bob Too was not only the finest British movie ever made but I’d say quite possibly in the top 10 EVER made...

” Thatchers Britain with her knickers down”..... brilliant !

In the Name of the Father

One of my favourite films of all time, Daniel Day Lewis is excellent and it’s based on a true story

Terrific film.

Daniel Day Lewis being the method actor that he is actually spent many nights in that cell and asked the film crew to chuck water over him and verbally abuse him, great actor.

Danny
