50 year old Trt on NHS

Recommended Posts

Does anybody use the nhs for trt,im so low no energy.Sex drive has completely gone and had mental health problems all my life.when i used to go the gym i took gear just because it made me feel great and i looked ok.I honestly believe i have very low t levels.Im going to the Drs the end of the month so will see if he will get me a blood test and find out if i am.Is it worth waiting for the Drs or should i self medicate test cyp if i can get some.

I have prostatitis and believe the steroids made it worse but id rather feel happy with prostatitis than the suicidal i feel now .

The only thing stopping me from doing myself in is not having the bollocks.Im hoping that trt would give me a lift.

Regards

Mick

And in the meantime you could use Medichecks to quickly get a privately done blood test, you'd have two readings then

Hello, thank you all i didnt realise it was as resonable priced.I will send of for it now.

I'd go for a blood draw though, not finger pr**k at home as they're less accurate

I wouldn’t agree with the above opinion that the finger pr**k test isn’t accurate. I’ve used it successfully. I’ve seen plenty of comments in here from people who know their stuff (Pscarb in particular) who aver that provided you follow the instructions the finger pr**k test is fine

Fair enough,. I've read if you don't follow those instructions though it can ruin the sample (squeeze the finger i think).  I've always gone and had mine done by a nurse, but the main reason for that is i don't like stabbing my fingertips.

I can see your point. When I donate blood I hate the finger pr**k test they do but I don’t mind the big needle they use to drain the blood

I've had a bit of a phobia of those finger lances since being made to use one in  a biology class at school. But like you, no problem with needles stuck anywhere else.  If i thought i could get past the mental aspect of jabbing my finger tip then i'd probably have tried it and saved a ton of money getting blood drawn by a nurse.  Plus, i'm ALWAYS  late getting there which stresses me out on the journey.  I've often wondered if that affects my results, adrenaline and cortisol  jacked up for half an hour driving there in rush hour traffic, probably does.

One thing to bear in mind if you have anything wrong with your prostrate they might not give you TRT. I know I had to pass a prostrate blood test before they give me a prescription ...

I’ve been in with the NHS for TRT for the last 16 months, though due to my local hospital being useless, I was on TRT for 3 months, off for 12 and I’ve been back on for 1 month.

currently using Tostran 2% gel. My original specialist refused to discuss injectable options but my new guy is great and has discussed all options but I’m sticking with the gel for now.

My diagnosis was Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism- my natural levels are as low as 1.8nmol so you can Relate to how s**t I felt for years. Struggle to shift weight, no sex drive, not putting on or retaining muscle.

Another few weeks to see your Dr is worth it, I wouldn’t self medicate as it’ll skew your bloods and may end up making your prostatitis worse.

if you’re really struggling with your mental health, you can self-refer to your local CAMS in the meantime. Don’t go doing anything daft for the sakes of a few weeks wait to see your Dr.

I got result back from medichecks and its only a testosterone level check not a testosterone free blood test they want another 70 notes for that.I have been advised that even though medichecks are saying its normal its low. What do you think.I cant afford private trt and i have a feeling my Dr  gonna be a waste of space so i may self medicate and start to feel good again.Screenshot_20191017-091542_Chrome.thumb.jpg.64a4464824a7c75f0df8ec6c04904850.jpg

That's 33% more than me - last night after a hard 10 hour shift doing maintenance work, i was deadlifting single's with just under 600, and i'd jacked off twice that day. You should be alright.

How old are you ? to jack off you got to get wood lol.I dont remember the last time i did.

I'm 48. Actually i lied to you a bit there. I only jacked off once. And i take 5mg tadalafil daily. If you don't you should look into it, several health benefits to tadalafil (generic Cialis). Your reading of 12.9, do you have any from a time you felt well, or before using steroids? If you used to be at a much higher level, then maybe your symptoms are connected to testosterone. I'm sure in a bit the regulars here are going to tell you it's not your testosterone though....

It's a shame you never got your LH tested, you might be able to get away with a low dose of clomid. But you need that LH result really. Medichecks discount codes are everywhere, plus they have different tests on sale each month - why don't you repeat it in a week or two, get a test with a bit more on it?

You've probably got prostatic because it gets no use.

Do what you can with what you have and get some testosterone with whatever it takes to do so.

It's very possible the way you're feeling has nothing to do with low test. You say you've had mental health problems your whole life so I think that might be the answer as your test isn't that low. A lot of people with far lower test feel fine.

What meds are you on? Antidepressants usually make the old chap stop working properly. I'm on Venlafaxine and although I can get a hard on, I find it really difficult to ejaculate. Before that I was on Citalopram and that completely killed my libido.

Yeah i'm on the Tostran Gel, had similar symptoms to you, three blood tests all showed Test level below 7 so GP referred me to an Endo who diagnosed me with Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism and  recommended the Gel for 3 months, been on it for 2 months now and feel slightly better, sleep has improved which has been the main benefit so far. Got my next check up soon to see if levels have gone up. I'm only on a low dose which equates to 140 a week. I'd say get full bloods done by your GP and go from there. Guys our age do need a little bit of a T boost and I see nothing wrong with that. If the Gel works it's really straightforward, one application a day, so no need for any jabbing. Hope it all works out mate.
