Broadband speeds.

Recommended Posts

I don’t know much about it but since having bt’s top notch broadband fitted a few years ago I’ve noticed the service get steadily worse. They sent me their latest router and granted, whilst it throws the signal all around the house and garden better it still runs slow. I’m comparing it against broadband in a Greek hotel and restaurants whilst I was there recently, all faster. Even the 4g network was better in Greece, a country that is falling to bits in many places (roads, buildings in general)

I’ve concluded that whilst Greece probably doesn’t have as much Internet infrastructure as us, there are a lot less people trying to connect to it

My internet seems slow lately, just ran a test and its saying 69.3 mbps download speed. Is that good?

Could it be my Mac Book? I'm wondering if clearing cache and cookies make it faster?

Count yourself lucky, i get a measly 25mbps lol

Lol, yea that’s not the best. I just wasn’t sure how quick mine was or if it was good. Turns out it’s decent.

I ‘obtained’ Chernobyl series 5 off the net in about 4 mins, 1.5 gig file.

Mom moving soon, gonna call BT and see what they can do for me. I’ve been with them for 3 years and never called to get anything extra or complain etc.  I only have it for the Rugby really.

I know loyalty doesn’t get you anywhere these days but it’s worth me asking.

Mine is less than that as I called virgin media to get a cheaper deal. It's like half the price now and still runs fine with no issues. I can stream HD movies with it with no buffering. Depends how many are using it at once.

Yeah, sorry bout that bud.

It was me. I am singularly responsible.

But the midget gotta have one leg or I'm not aroused.

You still on dial up or what bro?

Its ridiculous.  New estate, broadband from the 00s.  Although I can still use netflix, YouTube and game so I wont cry too much, just multiple devices is a no no.

UK has notoriously poor internet infrastructure.

Many poorly developed countries have really good 4G nowadays..  You can be in the middle of a desert/rainforest surrounded by lizards and have better 4G than in central London.

I was following a guy on the internet who was working for an NGO in central/southern Somalia a few years ago, I have an interest in the country as I know a bloke who fled the place when the war started in 1991 (he’s actually a white guy)

He talked a lot about he was surprised that given the country is ruled by hundreds of different militias outside the capital and is largely lawless he couldn’t believe how many telecommunications providers there are and how good the service is.

But you don’t have the population density that will impact on service though. Greece, maybe twelve million. Population of the United Kingdom, sixty five  million and fifty five million of those live in England alone.
