I've just started to worry about my RBC.

i have symptoms of high RBC.

giving blood donation this Thursdays. Hoping my reading isn't to high they can't take blood.

are there any real dangers of having high RBC?

and will 1 pint reduce my symptoms much?

and how soon after the blood is taken will I feel better ?

are you on steroids right now?

If you have high levels of RBC , they will not accept it until you do some medical tests to find the reason .

Having high RBC is dangerous , It make your heart work much harder to deliver blood , which leads to bad symptoms and can lead to stroke eventually .

1 pint will reduce your RBC a little , it will make you feel a little better for some days but it will come back.

To lower it , you have to eat less iron and lower your doses . even TRT levels of test lead to high RBC in a lot of men.

I suffered from it , now I'm ok but I have to be careful

ppl who are on legal prescribed TRT can give blood ( thats the standard treatment for high hematocrit )  , its not being on TRT that makes giving blood a problem, the problem comes when you are taking it non prescribed as it involves injecting so the NHS looks at all the problems that come with non monitored injecting practices -  this lumps users into the same category as smackheads and other drug users who inject.

The finger pr**k test only checks your iron levels.

I am not sure it can be too high, mine always drops in the solution near enough straight away. The nurses are well impressed.

The finger pr**k test is to check wether you have enough iron in your blood, other than that they test nothing else prior to giving blood. The only reason you cant give blood is if you tell them something is wrong on the pre check form or if you dont have enough iron.
