new borns and the gym

Recommended Posts

Lol. My biggest lay off from training was when I had a new born and a toddler. They certainly clip your wings. Happy Days, mine are mardy arsed teenagers now!

I think most get into a training pattern, training on say Monday/Wednesday/Friday. When they cannot train on what they perceive to be “their time” they get a bit flummoxed.

You have a bigger priority in your life now. Forget the old routine that you are used to and adapt. Train when you can, different days/times. Ime this usually means putting the baby to bed at around 8pm and nipping out for 45 mins whilst your mrs chills out for a bit. You’ve got to be flexible around your family.

Best of luck with it :)

hey me and the missus have a newborn baby a month old and i am now finding it hard to find the time to juggle baby, work, food, gym and food. anyone know  a good solution to this?  help needed.

cheers

Congratulations on your newborn baby.

1. Last month, your were only a man, today, you are both a man and a dad.

2. Last month you trained for you, today you train for you and your newborn.

3. Last month you may have been selfish for you, and because you wanted to be. Today you are selfish for you and your newborn because you need to be.

4. Your attitude is controlled by you, so it's up to you where you go from here. You may choose to be motivated to train because of your newborn, or you may choose to take a back seat and not train, or miss training sessions because of your newborn ...

Discipline is doing when you either don’t feel like doing something, or doing despite of some additional difficulties you may be facing.  No one says it’s an easy ride, but it’s precisely that challenge that makes it all the worthwhile.

Child Friendly gym? I go to David Lloyd (formally Virgin) and they have a creche and kids clubs. I was taking my youngest there since he was 3 months old and he loved it. Also got him well socialised so that when he started school he settled in straight away with no separation anxieties. Now he is school age I tend to hit the gym as soon as I have dropped him at school. I love training in the mornings, sets me up for the rest of the day. My older two boys also use the gym, so we all get to go as a family.

I haven’t set foot in a gym since my eldest was born nearly 4 years ago!

I’m lucky enough to have a garage which I turned into a makeshift gym and I’ve been going in there ever since. I get up and train before the missus and kids wake up. I think I’d have had to pack it in otherwise

My advice would be to just enjoy this time because it’s gone in a flash! Congratulations by the way.
