Hi All,

Do you think they would be any benefit using a weightbelt for heavy Goblet Squats?? I was always under the impression belts when it comes to squats are more for barbell squats however my sister's boyfriend says he uses them for Goblet Squats as a squat is a squat.

Is he correct or wrong??

You don't have to where a belt at all. It's more for heavy low rep stuff to give some core support. If the weight is lighter and you are doing more reps like sets of 10 and using good form you shouldn't need a belt.

I wear a belt always ? Do I need one ? Probably not.

It's part of my routine , makes me feel safe and ready to lift..

A belt is used to help brace the core.

I cant see it being needed since a goblet squat is done holding a dumbbell i'm sure, and most standard gyms only have them up to about 50kg if I remember right. You would have to have a very weak core to see any real benefits.
