Hi guys,

Im just starting out again working with weights after a 6month break after I fell off my R6.

Im hoping for some advice,

Im planning on ditching Carbs almost completely and instead eating lots of protein rich foods in a bid to get my body fat right down and pack some muscle back onto me!

is this a good idea?

how many carbs do i need?

Im training 3or4 times a week for 25/30 mins at a time, no hanging about, get on with it pack in 4 sets of 10/12 reps. get showered get back to work!

I mainly wanna focus on my upper body as I do quite a lot of walking/running anyway.

Tips / Advice?

Thanks

Ive googled carb cycling,

What exactly is it in basic terms?

If I keep carbs in my diet, should my diet mainly be protein based if I wanna build a bit and keep my body fat down?

i did not mean search google. there is a search tool on the tool bar at the top of the page.

there is other guys who can explain carb cycling better than me and there is alot of ways you ca do it. it involves low carb days, med carb days and high carb days. the figures will depend on the indvidual.

if your diet was not very clean before you could clean bulk and hopefully loose bf and gain muscle

like i said have a search on here mate. there is other guys who will be able to advise better mate.

Yeah, cool cheers buddy had a look now.

My diet hasnt been to bad in the past, I just wanna get my bodyfat to 6pack level again

When i tense now I can see a six pack, I just wanna burn enough fat to get it showing all the time.

Im prepared to do whatever it takes.

So far ive completely cut out all ****ty food in my diet, I eat little small meals and often now throughout the day. Being sat in an office most days means I need less carbs.

Im feeding my body lots of protein to help support the work im doing in the gym too!

Whats the biggest mistake I could make?

I wouldnt drop carbs completely. If you want to lose body fat just add more cardio. Also it is hard to lose body fat and gain quality muscle at the same time. I would suggest concentrate on loosing body fat first and then once you are down to your ideal body fat % you can concentrate on gaining lean muslce.

Drop your carbs slightly but not completely. If you want your diet sorted post your diet up

Ok, ive read through that massive diet and nutrition post.

very helpful

I think in short im gonna drink plenty of fluids, protein every 3hours, go for complex carbs and cut out sugars and junk almost completely.

Also keep my 5 hours of cardio a week up too. (walking)

I unfortunatlely dont have the time to weigh things out, put the im boxes etc but im gonna just keep my diet very clean.

Up till now i think ive consumed more calories than ive actually needed daily.

So its a couple of days into my training plan,

Ive gone mad with protein (over 70g per day)

Cut out all the crap i used to eat every day

Drunk over 2.5 ltrs water a day

Hit the weights good and hard all week...

Its finally starting to show again in small bounds!

My arms feel pumped again and Im getting that "sore" feeling in the mornings.

Also, John west tuna in brine and Tesco chunky plain chicken pieces are my best friends!

I decided for now im just keeping it simple,

LOTS of Protein

NO junk food

PLENTY of sleep

HEAVY weights

anyone got any more advice now im back into it ?

Ummm, 70g of protein isn't much, you want to take your weight in lbs and times that by about 1.5. Thats how much protein you want...
