I actually wrote a paper on red wine, but it was more to do with lowering LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol).
Simply drinking a few glasses a week will lower your chances of having a heart attack. It's to do with the skins on RED grapes. White wine doesn't lower cholesterol to the extent that red wine does.
So there is another excuse to drink a glass. However, the smallest bit of alcohol stops glycogen re-uptake, so bare that in mind!
