i think if someone reps they should leave there name even though when i first came on the board i didnt realise youhad to and i was anon repping even when it was good lol (oh the shame lol)

I don't think it's fine, it's open to abuse as it is and bloody annoying. Sure we could live with it being anonamous, but why?

I was respsonding to Big's post, I think he meant that the current system is fine as is, which I disagree with. But I suppose if you're a mod and can see anyway then it is fine...

To be fair, if you feel so strongly that you want to give reps either way, realy you should be prepaired to give your name.

Because it's designed to be a light-hearted way of saying "thanks, that's a good post", or "you're trolling". And it achieves that fully. That's all it's intended for, and it works. So we shouldn't screw with it AT ALL.

Of the dozens of reps you've been given, how many have actually had an unfair negative impact on you... 0.00001% of them maybe? Or closer to 0?

What you're effectively saying is "I want to know who left me neg rep so that I can have a go at them and/or neg rep them back". IMO, for the good of the nature of the board, and the sanity of the mods, not allowing a petty neg rep "gang war" is best. I can see exactly where it would be headed if we tried to prevent the alleged "abuse" by allowing members to police the board themselves. That's why boards have unbiased, level-headed, good looking moderators

We do that job for you.

Besides, who is actually going to leave you an anonymous negative rep? Someone with 5000 posts and full rep points so that their neg rep makes a difference to you? Unlikely. Far more likely it's someone with 50 posts and an attitude problem, who's negative rep won't make any odds to you anyway.

For what it's worth, mods CANNOT see who left rep - only admins can do that. So if it is of major concern to you who negative repped you, the answer is probably only a PM away from Lorian or Mr. G.

Feel free to positive or negative rep this post - anonymously, or with your name... I really don't mind

Reps dont mean a whole hell of alot. But when you get two yellow stars then you get a free car from Paul.

You know that even posting on the board increases rep points.
But that is not to say that someone would be a post whore to get more points.
The guys that have alot of points have the biggest bang for reps.
I never hand out negative ones, I mean I have but it can take a couple of green with just one hit. That isnt cool, that would just put the guy off from posting on this board.
We want more members, we want more input, we want a bigger community.
