Don't want my arms any bigger!!

I was in my gym last night and as you do I looked in the mirror and thought that if my arms get any bigger, they would probably be out of proportion with the rest of my body (once I had lost my weight and toned up) So the question really I have is, how do I workout so that I don't get any bigger, but just get the muscle definition. Do I do exactly the same as if I was building muscle mass but do more cardio vascular, when doing weights do I change the number of reps, use lighter weights etc??

Would really appreciate any help on this

Muchos Gracias!!

Stop training them directly for a little while, back and chest will stimulate arms very well if you are pull decent weights. Dips for chest will hit Tri's nicely and pull ups for back will trigger stimulation in bi's.

You could train them every couple of weeks at a lower intensity (weight) with a little more volume (like 2 sets of 20).

How much weight are you planning to shift - once your weight is down your arms may not look big (just got me thinking) :)

i wouldnt worry till you have lost the weight you want, then start to be more critical mate.

My arms aren't massive, they just need definition rather than mass, I think the hammer might be right, that I should wait untill I have shifted the weight before I am critical! :D I need to shift a shed load of weight! I am currently about 19stone 7lbs so need to shift about 4 stone before I get to the stage I want to be!

So I think the answer would be is wait and see!!

Thanks for the help!

keep working them then, better definition comes with more muscle, and less fat

You must be the first person to actually want to be smaller than he is in muscular form lol

What is the world coming to? lol I doubt you would ever look out of proportion though.. Maybe its just a visual effect.. If you train everything correctly with th same intessity im pretty sure your body will grow equally... maybe just stop isolating your arms for a month or so if its that big of an issue...

I'd say its pretty improbable that your arms look out of proportion to your body, put up a pic.

As already said stop training them, you will be surprised how much size you can keep by just doing the rest of your body, ie back chest delts, even legs to some degree.

It's not that I want them smaller it's that I don't want to have arms that will be out of proportion with the rest of my body, after I have lost this weight. Like some of the other posters on here have said, that I should wait untill I have shifted the excess baggage before I make an assessment of my arms!

I don't think quoting inch size would be any help here, if it's a ****ing contest you want there are threads for it. What I mean is that unless you know the rest of the stats you wont be able to judge what is too big or too small for him and his frame.

Just lay off the heavy weight training and work on other parts, I agree with waiting until after your cut though.
