desert of a keto diet

I've been reading through some of the keto diets listed in here and have been doing mine since january 2nd;

0700 Meal #1: 5 whole eggs. 2 omega fish oils

1000 Meal #2: Shake: 50g Whey Protein with 1 tablespoon of All Natural

Peanut Butter

1200 Meal #3: Lean protein meal: 100g Chicken with cup cashew nuts (or

almonds, walnuts).Cup of brocolli.

1500 Meal #4: Shake: same as meal #2.

1800 Meal #5: Fatty protein meal: 150g Red Meat with a

GREEN salad with 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil or Macadamia Nut Oil and Vinegar.

2030 Meal #6: 5 whole eggs. 2 omega fish oils

Largely based on findings throughout this section of the forum and I'm at the 195lbs mark too so just modified it very slightly.

Couple of quick questions, the fish oils that I'm taking are only 300mg, Ive read that most people are using 1000mg. Does it really make that much of a difference on this type of diet as Ill up the amount if it does.

Also, in my opinion meal 6 is a right ****ter before bed. Especially as Im not really a massive fan of eggs in the first place and they leave a bad taste in my mouth afterwards. Would it be possible to add a 'small' desert in here that abides by the rules of a keto diet? Such as sugar free jelly with double cream? As both have virtually no carbs in them at all.

Would anyone suggest any changes etc that they can see would make this abit better? Still need to get round to researching the nutritional values of each so that I can see the cals/pros/carbs/fats. Have just done my first ketostix test and it shows that I am actually in a state of ketosis now so thats good :)

All help/advice appreciated :thumb:

Fish oils - I'd guess yours have 180mg EPA and 120mg DHA. This is the same as what others refer to as 1g fish oils.

Dessert - Fine.

Have some whey or other protein instead of the bedtime eggs. I know a few full time keto dieters who have cheese for their last meal.

hmm I'm thinking a cheese omelette might do the trick now. Thanks for that :)

I used to use sugar free jelly and double cream as a desert on keto.

I now have a shake made with cream as my last meal.

Make a normal shake with 250ml of water and let it settle to get the air out.

While this is happening, make a sugar free jelly, but only do the first bit of adding the jelly powder to 250ml of boiling water.

Let this cool down for a while, and while it is still runny, add the 250ml whey shake and stir.

Pour this into 2 small bowls or tupperware boxes, and put in the fridge.

When I make this it's usually with strawberry whey and strawberry jelly.

dt36 that sounds really good, will have to give it a try. Ive just polished off a 5 egg and red leicester omelette, have to say I was very impressed with it and that Ill be having those in the mornings now instead. Cant complain when I can add cheese to meals haha.

hey again, i was just wondering about other items that can be used on this diet.

Ive been sticking to water to be honest for the time that Ive been on it, but I was reading the label on my gf's vimto bottle and it says that per 100mls that theres only 0.4g of carbs...does this mean that I could drink it without risking being kicked out of ketosis? Thanks

1200 Meal #3: Lean protein meal: 100g Chicken with cup cashew nuts (or

almonds, walnuts).Cup of brocolli. Very small amount of lea and perrins sause on chicken....... or tuna and whole egg mixed and grilled to form a patty with 15g cheese

1500 Meal #4: Shake: same as meal #2.

1800 Meal #5: Fatty protein meal: 150g Red Meat with a

GREEN salad with 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil or Macadamia Nut Oil and Vinegar.

2030 Meal #6: 5 whole eggs and 15g cheese omelette 2 omega fish oils. small portion of sugar free jelly with double cream

Btw: I'm 5 ft 10, 195lbs and 19% bf. I do weights 3/4 times a week, swim twice and cardio 5 times at approx 65% max after weights session.

Also, from my previous posts? Am I purely limited to water on this diet or there any particular juices that I can have?

Finally got round to doing the nutritional values,please see attached image.

Totals to;

Cals = 2550.3

Protein = 209.1

Carbs = 10.2

Fats (Saturated) = 199.9 (72.6)

As of this coming Friday I will have been doing this diet for 11 continuous days so will have my cheat day then (according to research from reading other posts). After this cheat day I will be dropping the double cream from the diet, and the following week I will be halving the cheese content (currently at 30g). I was weighed this morning before breakfast and so far I have lost 8lbs. I'll be upping the cardio accordingly week on week. Pleased with these gains...well infact losses, but still another 7 weeks or so to go :thumbup1:
