Low test or normal?

19 posts in this topic

Hey everyone,

Long time ago since my last post, but I tought id try this awesome forum again.

I stopped using AAS like 3-4 years ago not exactly sure about the date, and have since then felt alot of symptoms that I could relate to low test levels such as more sensetive(alot) less sex drive, less motivation to do anything, depression etc.

I went ahead and left som blood tests, and the doc called me today and told me that my values "weren't" that bad.

Im not from UK, and I know that in my country doctors are not really that into prescribing test for their patients.

The 2 values I remember that he mentioned was, testosterone of 5.8/nmol and SHBG of 13.

Is there any more values that I should get for a better understanding if my bloodworks are good or bad(I know they are under normal)?

Your Dr.  said testosterone level 5.8nmol/l  were not too bad not too good either !!

Yes a little strange answer, all information I get points me to belive its way to low, even tough the SHBG is slightly lower than normal.

Shame a lot of doctors seem to know f**k all about this stuff. If you're below the normal range then demand a referral to the endocrinologist.

Your low shbg will give you a higher free test reading but it's still a very low testosterone reading

Ask your doctor why he thinks  it's not too bad a reading when it's clearly below normal range

have you got a testosterone reference range should be something like 10nmol/l  - 30 nmol//l  so 5.8nmol/l  is way below

Thanks for response, yes those are the numbers ive heard also for "normal" range. In Sweden prescribing test to someone who lacks it is worse than prescribing heroin (if it was possible) they really avoid doing it. Instead they wanna give you SSRI that isn't helping. I have same test values as 3 years ago after i finished my PCT from AAS usage. The tests back then were like 6months after I quit AAS and had almost exactly same value as now. Back then I tought it was normal and that they would recover more, but they didnt.

If you was on the UK  you would be referred to a specialist.

Try speaking to your doctor ask him to refer you to a hormone specialist an endocrinologist.

Tell him your libido is at rock bottom and it's affecting your marriage /relationship

He is not in the UK though .

This I did not know.

However taking a copy of the UK guidelines back to the Dr may trigger a referral.

If you really want to go on trt go to your doctor tell him when you have sex and orgasm there is no ejaculate fluid and you are wanting to start a family and are unable to and it's affecting your relationship with your partner your Dr.   will take you seriously then . Lack of ejaculate fluid can happen with low test levels as it happened to me .

Hey guys,

I got prescribed test gel today, so im happy :) Just had an random appointment, didnt even know with whom I was going to meet. And it was a urologist that knew alot about this issues.

ANd he said "If your values are this low after 3 years from quitting AAS, its safe to assume they wont get better. So you need TRT".

Im happy I had so luck to meet a good doc.

Thanks for the support everyone!

Did he give you any other options apart from the gel ?

Do you need to see him again ?

Is he going to check testosterone levels again in near future to see if you are having enough / too much gel ?

When is your next appointment with him is he going to check routine bloods FBC  , LIVER , PSA  ?
