![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Never heard of any ![]() You could make a really tasty one yourself. Well, its not really an MRP but here goes. Take some plain yogurt. Add some honey (the good stuff). Vanilla extract. Whole cream. Whey protein. Mix it up and you wont believe how tasty it is. This will give you the proper ratios of fats, carbs, and protein. That and along with the fact that you will be getting billions of good/frendly bacteria. Just mix all together and put it in the fridge, grab a half or whole cup and call it a meal. For me I would have to guess those zone bars, to answer your question John. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Un-original I know but I still favour pro mr by chemical nutrition. Great protein blend, nice texture and taste, and one of the cheaper mrps also. I used it long before owning Bodyshapers. I've tried most of the mrps on the market and its still my favourite by a long way even now. Not keen on the all-whey mrps as I think blends are far superior. |

| Getting HUGE! | zone bars... yeah about the best store bought stuff food replacement and I actually included it in my alternative foods, although I hate the soy in them and avoid them myself (a reason I will not eat the new puddings, too much soy) About the best MRP (drink) is homemade IMO low fat cottage cheese, whole fat yogurt (low fat has to much sugar and not enough good bacteria), whey proteins (blends are best), fruit or honey and maybe ground flax seeds or natural peanut butter (koodos PSCarb on that one, good call) aiming for a 33F/33P/33C ratio give or take 5-10% again I personally prefer whole food. We prepare all our food ahead (test new recipes each week) We freeze 1/2 of that food and put the other 1/2 in the refrige all topgether it ends up being about 36 containers. Many of the meals we make can be eaten cold or hot, some at room temp. We even make a small mark on the containers so we know their use in that way. A small colapsable cloth cooler allows us to travel with this. So far only in rare cases when traveling overseas have I found I couldn't bring food with me. Even then I could bring a limited amount. Now many times I have to go bodyguard and as such I can't take my food with me. But I usually can get to a fast food place, or a convience store and put together what I need (zone bars work as well) at thos places I make sure to have a salad and some 2% milk then follow with a sandwhich with half the bun tossed away to bring the whole thing closer to isocaloric and the calories I need. All the fast food places carry a booklet to let you know the amounts you can have and mini grocery stores/convienve stores carry fruit like apples, meat slices and such. So I can usually eat whole foods even while working. If I could possible pack an MRP along I could just as easily pack some food for me. Now if I was going to buy an MRP and mix it in water (carry one of those mixing bottles), then take apple pectin, fish oils caps and a whole food multi with it (no mrp has any of these in enough or quality to replace) I would use Biotests Grow but you need fat added so a packet of ground flax seeds as well. So my answer is... Biotests grow with ground flax seed in water IMO. (long way to get to the answer eh? LOL) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the best i have used are the ones that contain whole carbs Lee Labrada's breakfast MRP's contain oats and the Apple Cinnamin taste is awesome but there are others around. [b]Pro-MR...[B/]hard to beat very good company [b]Labrada Breakfast shakes....[B/] [b]Reflex progen shakes.......[B/]never tried these but have heard very good things about these since they have re-done their mixture again they use whole carb sources. there are plenty other MRP's out there and i am sure that they all have their good points but you have to remember 3 points. 1.Not all MRP's are made the same 2.You get what you pay for..... 3.Advertising is their to seduce you so get samples if you can.... but i will say one thing i would have a MRP Drink over a MRP bar any day Bars are in my opinion way down on the food ladder as recent studies done on Tri-O-Plex and Detour bars have pointed out. remember also that when you make a MRP shakes you totally change the Amino profile and macro's by mixing it with Milk you should always use water.... |

any kind of milk will effect the Amino profile and Macro numbers take a typical MRP Protein..45g Carbs..30g Fat..5g in water this is what you get but if you mix this with say 500ml of Semi-Skimmed milk the profile will be Protein..62g Carbs..55g....the extra carbs are all Sugar Fat..13.5g and on top of this the milk will knock the amino profile out aswell..... so as you can see if you don't account for the milk in your diet and you have 1 MRP a day then over a week you will have an extra Protein..119g Carbs..175g....all Sugar Fat..59.5g Cals...1711.5

I also think that the Stallone puddings, once they get the kind of media exposure here they deserve, could well and truly kill off a lot of the sales of bars. Not only are they equally convenient, but they are also better tasting and far superior nutritionally with no sugar alcohols, hidden carbs/sugar, no trans fats, no lactose etc... I expect that other companies will be bringing out their own versions before long. I had a reflex progen sachet about a week ago as a free sample and have to say I wasnt impressed. I just find the texture of the products they do with oat extracts to be unpleasant - kind of like sawdust. Dont get me wrong - nutritionally they have to be one of the best, but I still think taste is an important factor. Personally I'd rather take a product that is 9/10 nutritionally and tastes good than a product that is 10/10 but tastes poor. Last edited by BSF James; 07-06-2005 at 12:25 PM.
