Vitamins!

Hey guys.
I'm currently taking 1 multivit, 1 vit c and 1 omega 3 fish oil tabs a day.
Got a couple of Q's.
Is it ok to take extra vit C? Someone told me you CAN have too much and the multivit already hass the RDA. Although I'm not so sure.
Also am I taking enough omega 3? Any more vits you suggest?
And any cheap online places to get them?
Thanks a bunch guys.

Yes it's fine to take extra vit c. In theory it shouldn't be possible to overdose on it at all as it's water soluble. However, I've read that it can cause problems in large doses. But by large doses we're talking several grams (dozens). 2-3 1g tabs a day is fine - lots of bodybuilders do this.

Remember that vitamins need to be taken throughout the day, although the best option is to have a diet that provides you with enough vitamins and minerals anyway.

Your fish oil tabs you should take more of. I take around 12 a day, and I think a lot of others do too.

http://www.zipvit.com is my favourite place to get all vitamins and fish oils from. Cheap... REALLY cheap.

12 a day is awesome. I do this and swear by them.
Deficiencies in Omega 3's have a host of problems.
Well, it is not so much the defeciencies in Omega 3's as the ratio.
Most people get too much of Omega 3 fatty acids due to too much vegetable oils.
So adding fish oils will help you with your EFA ratio and your cardiovascular system will just love you. Triglycerides will be lower, LDL's will be lower and your prostate, heart, skin and nuts will love you too.
Dont believe me just do a search on EFA.

Vitamin C is cool, but a clean colon, digestive enzymes and probiotics are good too.

I would have to say that diet is the most important, supps are just there to help with deficiencies.

12 fish oils (I count this as fat in my diet)
1-2 multi vitamin tabs (sometimes)
1-2g vit-c (sometimes)
creatine (only when I'm on steroids)

I also take whey, dextrose and maltodextrin after a workout.

Everything else is real food, oh and steroids LOL.

To be honest mate, I am not one for OTC supps, and in my opinon you should be able to get everything you need from real foods.

I look at supplements as food. And food as a drug. So I try to make sure I use it accuratly. In this case fish oil is concentrated nutrition, same for my other supps I take. By the way Big, those 12caps of fish oil, they would not be counted as fat in the diet because they don't add to the calories but lower the totals through amounts burned. In other words they actually create the burning of more calories than they add into the diet.
I personally take
whole green food based multis (Source of Life by Natures Plus)
12 capsules of fish oil (Usually Fisoil by Natures Plus but lately Kirland brand aka Costco because of the cost)
apple pectin (vitamin shoppe brand)
My workout drink with designer whey, raw honey, plain creatine monohydrate, a pinch of heavy sea salt (lately a blend with dead sea minerals - yes twins I like minerals too) flavored with sugar free pudding mix (thats angels delight in the UK) and mixed with water.
I also take Pay Attetion aka brain food by Smart nutrition.
I take tight by San in the morning another gurana and some yohimbine in the afternoon.
I take... other peaking supps on 4 day on 3 day patterns as well. M, E, T, E
The only drug I use is 25mcg for 4 days and 37.5 mcg for 3 days of T3 (must because of thyroid issues from cancer treatments)

So they work differently from actual dietary fats? If so, how come?

Do you mean 10g of fats from fish oil caps is treated differently by your body than 10g of olive oil on your food, or 10g of fat in salmon?

Everyone already knows what I take SD, alchemy explained when, how much and why.

I give too much away for free I know I know, but in realty it doesn't matter, people only really listen when they pay money for it.

Boy is this ever the truth!!!!

My Girlfriend for example, she is having a host of problems and she went to the Dr and she is not doing too good on paper.
Mostly hormonal problems.
The Dr. told her to eat no red meat what so ever.
Also put her on kindof a vegetarian diet.

I think he is trying to kill her. She does not eat and probably ate maybe 10 grams of protein for the entire day.

I try to help her and she does not listen to me at all. i bought her some really good whey protein and this was 2 months ago and she has never used any of it at all.
Hell, I can take it off of her hands and use it myself.
She wants to eat pills to help her out.

If food is a drug then why does she want to take pills to get better?

It is her choice and if she wants to take that Dr's advice and get worse then she deserves it. Im not trying to be mean but I have little patience for ignorance. :axe:
