![]() ![]() | Cod liver oil Just started to do cardio last week using a stationary cycle, my left knee does not seem to like it too much. I dont have any old injuries or nothing like that but the knee is a little painfull. I know its not used to the exercise but it feels a little more than that, something with the joint. Is cod liver oil the best for joint problems ( if thats what it is) and can this be used along with muti vitamins ect: sorry if question sounds silly but im not a doctor lol. |

Cod liver is pretty high in vitamin A so taking too much of that will do some more harm than good. Fish oils instead of the cod liver.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Bump STV. I use omega-3 from reflex. Tyson, I myself have had knee problems in the past, cycling will put a load on the knee, if you have a rough cartalige track its probably becoming slightly enflamed (I bet it hurts to walk up stairs). I have to see a physio once every two weeks, but all he does is use a combination of massage, ultrasound and heat lamps to promote blood flow around them. I would also suggest never doing any impact cardio (running mainly) until you are fully recovered. Stick to cycling, swimming and the killer circuit training. try not to stress the knee for 2 days in a row.

![]() ![]() | its hard to say, i would say it is the feeling of the two bones very slightly rubbing as it doesnt feel like a smooth motion as i am cycling, dont get me wrong im not in agony or anything but it is uncomfortable and i thought cod liver oil was for the joints but i have seen the omega 3 you mentioned so might give that a go |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | As I understand it, the knee goes through a "V" shaped cartalige channel in the leg... In most people the cartaliage is slightly rough, which in itself isn't a problem. Until you are using the joint regularly and/or doing impact stuff. The cartaliage swells up from the abraisions, then rubs throughout the day. If you find that it gets too much then have a hot bath, use a heat lamp, try hot + cold therapy, and reast it to let the swelling go down. omega-3 will help but over a long period. Basically don't push the injury too much because it's one of those things that gets worse if agrovated. From the sound of it though you've not got to that stage (and hopefully wiht the omega-s won't).

I think it is (If I can mrmember) a 96% extension so the power part of the leg is used. The more extension (without locking out) the less knee injury and the more power you will get peddling.

Also Cod Liver Oil is high in Vitamin A and too much of this will cause toxic problems. Vitamin A gets stored in the body for long periods of time so no need to get alot of that on a daily basis. Stick to the fish oils.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I take between 2-3 per each meal. I also throw in 6 apple pectins a day to that mix too, and about 10 digestive enzymes, and 2 pro-biotics too. Fish oils are high in EFA and most people dont get enough of that in your diet. It also helps something called eicasinoids. These are very important for good health. Also fish oils taken can lower triglicerides so this is good for your cholesterol. Most people dont get alot of good fats in their diet and this is a cheap and easy way to get it in the diet. One thing tho, dont take them on an empty stomach. They contain about 1 gram per capsule so that is only 12 grams of oil added a day that amounts to only 108 calories extra in the diet from oil. Sounds like alot but I dont think 1 or 2 a day will give you the benefits you are looking for. Here is a little snip form some articles: Most Americans are Omega-3 deficient because of our over-processed diets. One of the most common symptoms of Omega-3 deficiency is depression, among other mental health symptoms, and of course depression is common among Americans. NOT ME! ![]() For example, good fats compete with bad fats, so it's important to minimize the intake of trans fats and cholesterol (animal fat) while consuming enough good fats. Also, good fats raise your HDL or "good cholesterol". One of the jobs of this High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) or "good cholesterol" is to grab your bad cholesterol, LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein), and escort it to the liver where it is broken down and excreted. In other words, these good fats attack some of the damage already done by the bad fats. This is very important in an age when so many Americans are struggling to get their cholesterol down, and fight heart disease and obesity. Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are necessary fats that humans cannot synthesize, and must be obtained through diet. EFAs support the cardiovascular, reproductive, immune, and nervous systems. The human body needs EFAs to manufacture and repair cell membranes, enabling the cells to obtain optimum nutrition and expel harmful waste products. A primary function of EFAs is the production of prostaglandins, which regulate body functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, blood clotting, fertility, conception, and play a role in immune function by regulating inflammation and encouraging the body to fight infection. EFA deficiency is common in the United States, particularly Omega-3 deficiency. An ideal intake ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids is between 1:1 and 4:1, with most Americans only obtaining a ratio between 10:1 and 25:1 Now this is where the problem is! EFA deficiency and Omega 6/3 imbalance is linked with serious health conditions, such as heart attacks, cancer, insulin resistance, asthma, lupus, schizophrenia, depression, postpartum depression, accelerated aging, stroke, obesity, diabetes, arthritis, ADHD, and Alzheimer's Disease, among others. I think you get the picture there are many other reads on this and all point to getting this down the throat ![]()
