What supplements to avoid taking together

I read that if you take creatine and glutamine together then they are not as effective as they use the same receptors and cannot both be used to maximum effect if taken at the same time.I was wondering if there are any other supplements, including any vitamins+minerals, which should also not be taken together?

Dont take calcium and zma together, they cancel out each other. Dont just take one mineral and not the other. There has to be a fine ballance.

I am not aware of any reason why Creatine+Glutamine shouldn't be taken together? Where did you read that? There are also some good 'delivery system' products that actually combine the two.

V12 combines L-Glutamine and creatine along with taurine and some other stuff. I dont see a problem there.

Dont take milk with your ZMA that will ruin it. That stuff it too expensive to be compromising the effects.

Wait till I get home and I will give you a list of things that are good to take together.
I think some vitamins help absorpton of certain minerals like I think vitamin B6 is good to take with Magnesium as it helps absorpton.

There are many interactions with minerals and vitamins and perscription drugs.

no.. personally i eat chicken about 1-2 hours before bed along with some greek yoghurt....(maybe)

whey before bed wouldnt really have much benefit.. better off with a blend that contains milk proteins and micellar casein

dude put it in

water , protein is protein, as long as your getting it, but please dont come back and say " protein shk, is not like a can of tuna, so protein is not protein ", your looking for something to mix it in, just get it down you with water and go to bed, or stick it in single cream. ( yum ).

john33, you seem to resent me asking advice?perhaps i read it wrong.i don't see how " protein shk, is not like a can of tuna, so protein is not protein "???I cannot remember saying anything resembling that.ever.i read on this site things such as "have a protein shake in milk before bed"and that this will slow down the digestion, so your body slowly gets the protein through the night, and would not be as useful in water.but then i read other people saying that they do other things.so I come on here and I ask.i would rather ask and look stupid than not ask and do something stupid.if you find my questions so tiresome then don't wear yourself out answering them

I think if you are taking ZMA then I would take that on an empty stomach.

Me myself personally, I dont take shakes befores bed. I tend to eat late (later than I should) so I dont like the idea of packing more food on top of digestion.

There are seperate schools of thought on this one.
It takes blood to digest food. I dont like having my digestive system working 20/7. Myself, I feel that if you dont want to grow or lose weight and get your calories during the day then the protein shake at night is not needed. I want my body to rebuild and do its thing while sleeping.
Also, with the presence of insulin in the body at bed time this stops the release of HGH from the pituitary gland. So adding carbs before bed might not be the best idea IMO.

Now there is other thought that taking a small amount of carbs, fats and protein before bed helps tap into fat burning for the rebuilding process. But this is small amounts like lets say 10 grams protein, 12 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fat. Thats not much, just over 100 calories.

Calcium binds to some other minerals and vitamins. Some vitamins should not be taken with calcium.

If you want the benefits of ZMA at bed time then just take that all by itself, on an empty stomach.

On the original thread it was asking about L-Glutamine and Creatine. For reasons of PH I would say that glutamine might be good with creatine because it helps raise the body's PH. Creatine needs to be a certain PH for the body to use it. There is an article floating around in the article section on how to make your own creatine product. I do think this is the right aproach as PH is very important for the assimulation of creatine.
