BCAA+

Hey Guys,

Got a bit of a question, today a parcel from myprotein arrived, it had some whey, BCAA+, Sesamin and Green Tea Extract. I'm really trying to lose some weight so thought I would get some supps! Anyway the Sesamin and Green Tea are pretty straightforward, take with meals etc. However the BCAA+ is the only one thats sort of workout related. It says take 3 before your workout and 3 after.

Well at the moment I'm doing 2-3 weights sessions a week. So will obviously use it for them, but my main question is, everyday I cycle 26 miles, 13 each way to work, and it takes about an hour and I'm knackered after it. I know the BCAA is to prevent muscle breakdown and I was thinking that surely an hour of cycling would start to breakdown muscle after say 45 mins of it, so would you recommend me taking BCAA for what is really quite an intense cardio workout. It would also mean though that on the days where I'm doing a weights session I would still be doing the cycling too, so if in fact I were to take it each cycle I would be doing the '3 before 3 after' course twice in that day, once for the gym, once for the cycle.

Any help would be great.

Oh last thing I'm also finishing off a bottle of Thermobol I had, think it's ok to take while taking these other supps? Out of all of them it's the only one that is taken on an empty stomach, the Sesamin and Green Tea are with meals.

With all due respect I think you have misunderstood the role of BCAA. Whilst some protocols PWO and through heavy dieting support BCAA use they are a very expensive way to get protein in.

using them after cycling IMO is a waste of money when you can get carb and protein heavy food far cheaper

After all BCAA is simply 3 of the AAs found in protein and 3 caps is nothing in terms of dose

I agree too expensive to be used for anything other than pre and PWO.
