Cortisol Blockers

Do they work? The idea of taking a few tablets every day and feeling a bit less stressed, burning a bit more fat and hanging onto a bit more muscle sounds great, but they're not cheap and I've never been a huge fan of supplements (other than protein powder & maybe a bit of creatine).

Re: Cortisol Blockers

I dont know anything about them, but 3g+ of vit C per day has been shown to reduce cortisol secretion markedly, and also has the added benefit of keeping fluid turnover high, as well as the whole host of benefits vit C brings on its own directly and indirectly.

Its also very inexpensive - bonus!

Re: Cortisol Blockers

Cortisol only needs to be blocked post workout and in the evening. The rest of the time your body needs it.

Re: Cortisol Blockers

Pharmaceutical cortisol blockers like Aminogluthamide can be dangerous because they can stop blood clotting which is one of the things that led to Andreas Munzters death.

Natural wise a supplement called Phosphatidylserine has been shown to markedly help lower stress/cortisol levels. You used to be able to buy it from Tropicana in a supplement called cort bloc and it gave 800mg of the product which is about the test study dose.

Away from supplements there are a few relaxation techniques which cost Fcuk all and you can do yourself at home which can relax you, most of them stem from self hypnosis so a good book on that will help.

Self hypnosis is very easy and effective if you can get a hypnoterapist to show you how to do it. I show all my clients how to self hypnotise whern I work with them.

takes about 10 minutes on an evening.
