H&B Muscle and Weight Gainer

Just been looking at the Body Fortress Muscle and Weight Gainer from H&B and the ingredients are (per 85g serving):
Protein - 25.1g
Carbs - 51.8g
of which sugars 39.7g
and a bunch of other amino acids and vitamins...
what i was wondering, are the carbs to high, it seems it to me
However, i am a newbie so any help would be apprieciated.
Cheers

Re: H&B Muscle and Weight Gainer

If you are wanting to gain weight then high carbs are good, it also depends on what other whole foods you are eating throughout the day, and how many weight gain shakes you are planing to drink. Also without knowing your height, weight etc, it is hard to determine what is best for you !!!

Re: H&B Muscle and Weight Gainer

Gaining weight = fair amount of carbs required
H and B = poor products

This is a weight gainer, not a protein supplement

People who want to grow cannot be scared of carbs

Correct.

However, too many simple carbs in this product along with nasty additives.

As a last resort,it may serve as a Pwo supp, but personally you,i'd look elsewhere.

Make your own gainers - protein powder, ground oats, efa source.

Cheaper and better!

Use the board sponsors for the ingredients.

Re: H&B Muscle and Weight Gainer

Simple carbs are not an issue, especially for hard gainers
The issue is the whole diet and the correct use of carbs in relation to:

metabolism
daily tasks
timing of carbs

Most weight gainers are full of complex carbs, maltodextrin being that complex carb which apart from a slight difference in science is no different to what we used to worry about with simple sugars

the nasty additives, im not sure as i wont even enetrtain H and B stuff

i would though question the quality of protein used in said product

pick a realistic goal first, design your food intake around that, then add shakes where needed (after training and rarely for convenience)

Is there no way i could achieve this? say doing abit more cardio?
If not, should i just buy some protein powder instead of weight-gainer?
Thanks for the help.

Re: H&B Muscle and Weight Gainer

gaining muscle = calorie surplus
losing weight = calorie deficit

Your emphaisis is placed too heavily on a supplement and there is no mention of food

Beyond small gains and newbie gains you will struggle to add muscle and lose fat and you certainly cant decide where the weight goes when you are gaining it in terms of fat deposits
