Angry KEEP GETTING ILL FFS

I have been on-off ill for six weeks now, sore throat and extremely tired on a bad day, fine on a good day. I am really getting wound up by it, I can only handle a two day split at the mo and even that is hard work. I have had two weeks full rest (including no cv) but that has not helped. Can anyone suggest some good immune boosting suppliments??? Any advice welcome.

Cheers.

Re: KEEP GETTING ILL FFS

Dru,i have spent years feeling like i have a cold coming every other week and it really drained me big time and training seemed to make me worse, anyway turned out i have an allergy....fook knows to what but the doc gives me pills i take(anti histamine) and a nasal spray and i feel so much better and now get a cold like every 6months which is normal i'd think.

Not saying this is what you have but it's possible.

MXS is on a distinguished road
Re: KEEP GETTING ILL FFS

im exactly the same my daughter was born 16 weeks ago and ive been ill for aleast 10 of those with norovirus, extremely sore throats, generals colds, headaches all sorts I recently bought Echincea, Ginseng, Garlic Tabs, Multivit (inner armour or animal pak both good) & 10g glutamine a day and also washing my hands as often as possible working in a gym with dirty bastards doesnt help but im slowly recovering from sore throat & cold since taking this but hopefully will be able to see me good till the summer days arrive!

Also few things to consider are you sleeping well, stress or overtraining? (probably not as you stated about 2 weeks off) i know ive got stress with a new born, work and lack of sleep so can put it down to those things! may just move to a hot country for winter next year its not about being ill like this for so long i hate it and would probably a stone heavier and leaner lol

Re: KEEP GETTING ILL FFS

Thanks for the reply's chaps, I feel I am in a viscious circle as I get depressed that I cannot train which doesn't help recovery from this weird illness. Blue - thats interesting mate, don't think I have any sort of allergy, I don't get bunged up its all headaches sore throats and feeling spaced out. MXS - Ill give all those supps a whirl, what really f**Ks me off is summer is round the corner, I have overcome some injuries for the past six - nine months and now this on-off illness for 6 weeks!?!?!?! WTF I am ready to hit it hard after months of rehab and now this :(

Yeti-man, your description is spot on mate. Sounds like you have what I have. Hope you get better soon. My old man is a GP, he thinks its just a viral thing, like most GP's he is anti BBing so will blame everything on it, lol.

Re: KEEP GETTING ILL FFS

Sounds like a viral infection.Go to GP and request a blood test.

Re: KEEP GETTING ILL FFS

I have been fairly ill recently, i think the stress that your body is under doing weight training and then using alot of energy trying to grow afterwards depletes your immune system. I try and eat well, take supplements and in the mornings even if its not that cold i will put my hat on and try and stay wrapped up.

Re: KEEP GETTING ILL FFS

I have recently found out that it was a viral infection and I have been told I now have post viral fatigue syndrome which is so sh1te, I am a bit embarrassed about this as I was never a believer in these 'ME' type syndromes. Been told it will pass with time. Its so debilitating, has anyone had this before??? If so how did you overcome it??? ANy training I do (lifting or CV) results in me being increadibly tired for two days!
