| Administrator | I think 1000mg a day is quite sufficient unless you have special circumstances, eg being ill.. Personally I'd snap them and take half in the morning and half before bed. Also note that Vit C is water soluble so it's best to take it on its own if possible and not with fatty foods. ![]() L

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Because Vitamin C is water-soluble, you just p1ss away the extra, so you don't store it in your body. It therefore doesn't build up and isn't thought to be toxic in large doses. I did read something ages ago that contradicted that though.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ah, here it is (from BBC News): "In addition the group warned against taking more than 1000mg of vitamin C, 1500mg of calcium or 17mg of iron per day. "In high doses, these can all cause stomach pains and diarrhoea. However, the symptoms should disappear once people stop taking these supplements." So, it was only short-term problems that high doses of vit c cause. ![]()

| i only ever take a high strength anti-oxidant complex (a,c,e) after training. and a b-vit coplex 1-2 hr before training. so 4 days out of 7.there have been no studies into the long term efefcts of such high doesages, so i am keeping my inatake to a minimum. |
