Bedtime shake

I realise casein is a good choice for a bedtime shake, but I drink all my shakes with milk anyway, which obviously contains casein.

So my question is should I get micellar casein to add to my my milk or would whey be just as good/better?

Re: Bedtime shake

I take a good quality whey shake but then slow down the absorption through fats in peanut butter.

Would rather do that than either use milk or a protein like casein

If it hasn't been wiped:( (Hard drive broke a while ago, had to be repaired and lost some bits)

Re: Bedtime shake

Haven't got the article as not home yet, but I'm sure one of the factors is hydrochloric acid release...

Fat's hinder the stomaches secretion of hydrochloric acid - which is what denatures (or uncoils) the amino acids.

I'm 99% sure thats one of the factors.....but the article later will clarify unless I'm waaaaaay off the mark

Fats and Fibre certainly slow the absorption of the protein right down - which isn't ideal Post Work Out...

Bump for later...

I will be using full fat milk to slow the absorption down some more.

What's up with casein/milk? It's a slowly digesting protein with a good amino profile.

Whey is cheaper than casein though bud, and since there's casein in milk anyway, and fat if I have full fat milk.....

I'm not arguing but asking - what's up with milk? The sugars in it?
