Hey fellas Started using 20g a day of Glutamine during my current cycle and I have been pleasantly surprised by the results, I have been eating low cals and doing plenty of cardio but I have not lost any muscle, which I am extremely pleased about and I am sure that Glutamine supplementation has been a factor. Currently I take it 10g before I workout and 10g before I go to bed. I wondered if there was any more significant benefit in taking it after my workouts in my PWO shakes? Am I wasting the anabolic window but not taking it? Cheers, Jock

![]() ![]() ![]() | Many opinions to that one mate.....some might suggest taking p/w/o it will clash with nutrient uptake etc.... I however used to add it to scoop of viper with 2 lts of water and sip throughout, maybe 2 of these a day. However it does sound like you are reaping the benefits of it the way you are using it, if it aint broke......... All the best |

![]() | yeah you can, dont know how much they cost. a mate of mine gets them cheap but they dont contain a lot so he has to take loads and loads of caps half way through his workout so that it is in his system by the end of it. You dont have to make a seperate drink mate, you just add a teaspoon of the stuff to your protein drinks. other times i just stick a spoonfull straight in my mouth and take a drink of water. Glutamine should just melt in your mouth anyway. Reflex stuff does.

![]() | TMOF? No it doesnt taste too bad stop being a p*ssy! its not, or shouldnt be gritty like creatine is. You can buy it from anywhere really. you talking about the caps or tubs of powder? Just stick it in with whatever drink your having (cold) (not beer). Now GABA, that tastes bad!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I bought a bottle of the L-Glutamine and they were packaged in 1 gram capsules with a fine white powder in them. I take my L-Glutamine in the morning first thing before I jump into the shower. I take V12 and this has it already in it. So I would think maybe twice a day once first thing in the morning and then just after a workout.

| UK-Muscle Male Animal | I have a buddy that has been taking it and says that he didn't notice anything. When he ran out of L-Glutamine he really noticed it. He said he was sore and had a harder time recouping.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thats not all it does! Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid but makes up most of the amino acids found in ur blood - if u are low in glutamine u simply won't gain any lean muscle mass Glutamine stores in the body are v.v.low after a workout so u need to replace them unless u want to get into a catabolic state which is kind of defeating the purpose of a workout! My suggestion is that glutamine is, second to ur whey, the most important supplement u can buy. It also curbs catabolism when ur on a cutting cycle. I'd take 5-10g in the morn, 10g after a workout (if a rest day don't bother with this midday) and 5-10g before bed. Don't think too much about muscle soreness - when u start with heavy weights or use a new exercise u get sore big time, but the body adapts - don't think when ur not sore u have recovered, thats why most ppl overtrain - i personally train heavy and train each body part once a week - no more, no less - i work on the compound movements and maximum overload principles, and works for me - as long as u push urself to absolute failure on the last set of each exercise and take a proper rest such as 2-3 mins between each set - u have done ok, don't use muscle soreness as a guide of a good workout - only results the nxt wk in the gym ;) Last edited by crazycacti; 28-07-2004 at 05:58 PM. |
