Am I missing something?

I know this might sound stupid, but am I missing something? I've been looking at myprotein because I need to cut down my costs for various reasons. Currently I am buying 10lb of Dymatize Elite off ebay for £47 including the postage and a buchsteiner shaker every time (and can get it even cheaper for buying 3x10lb). I've looked at the nutritional information and it only looks to me like there is a gram or two protein content difference between this and myprotein's unflavoured whey. Yet they are charging £49 for a 10lb unflavoured tub, no postage no shaker.

Is there something major in the difference between these two that I'm missing when I look at the nutritional breakdowns? I'm sure I'll get some blurb on why the myprotein quality of protein is different or something, but I'm not competing and aren't bothered about single figure %bf at all, and the Dymatize is actually a pleasure to drink, tastes really nice.

Not looking for an answer really, just wondering if I'm making the most economical choice I suppose, while still factoring in the taste equation.

Hi,

Yes the £49 products is 100% whey protein isolate (92% protein). WPI is much more expensive to produce. You can buy 10lb's of Impact Whey (which is 80% protein see test here) for much less here...

Have a read of this thread on different companies protein levels:

Thanks

Re: Am I missing something?

must admit, I have some elite stuff and it tastes overly flavoured (if that makes sense) (cookies and cream).

I actually bought some unflavoured stuff and mixed it in and it is not soo bad now.

Re: Am I missing something?

In fairness I only use the vanilla stuff, as I never seem to get bored of it. I might save my cash and buy in bigger bulk, because even with the % protein difference quoted on this thread, at that bulk you seem to get even more protein for your money. I suppose in fairness though I ought to try a little of myprotein and maybe some other suppliers next time I buy.

It's interesting, because amount of protein for money is more important to me than anything else at the moment - not operating at the competitive level where the minor differences can have a major impact on your final outcomes.

am I the only one who has their protein unflavoured most of the time?

I have got used to the flavour (or lack of it). To me it just tastes like watery milk, lovely.

Have a hunt around on the web and you will see the offical tests by Eclipse labs. That's not the reason its "cheap as chips", its mainly because whey is much cheaper in the USA and the £ is very strong against the $ currently. You will see the price of US imports go up very soon with the global increase in whey though...

It just tastes like watered down milk (as that what it is in essence) and many people prefer it. Drop sales an email and we will send you out a free serving sample for you to try..

Thanks

Better watch out Paul, you might have Dymatize threaten legal action with MyProtein making unsubstantiated claims about their whey.

I know what you mean dude. Some of the flavoured stuff tastes like sh1t. Plus, the majority of branded whey contains artificial sweeteners, which are really nasty.

I had some vanilla-flavoured LA Whey the other day and that was really sickly.

I really do like the unflavoured whey from MP though. Hell, I even like the taste of their hydrolysed whey!

Post edited even though it isn't unsubstantiated as the tests were in the public domain and we were merley making reference to them.

one rule for one!! comes to mind

On the web these days you will get very good deals on flavoured proteins and most of them are very good, it goes without saying that unflavoured Bulk whey is a desired taste and not for everyone apart from those who have the discount code in the Sigs....(bodyuk please change the font colour of your sig or i will delete it)

Re: Am I missing something?

FYI Most major Brands increased SRP's 1 st of July . with strangely USA brands going up the most .. ON , Designer Whey and Dymatise have all gone up alot .. UK brands have increased less it seems .. EAS , Metrx and BSN have increased Trade prices 10-15% as well so only a matter of time before that filters through ..

The Protien Price increases are effecting all
