Sustigen

Do you guys ever use this powder? Im not sure of you have this product in the UK but its sold in supermarkets for pretty cheap and has 18 grams of protein per serve. I figured thats pretty good, probably cheaper for me to buy that in bulk instead of the usual protein powders.

What else is in it, fat, carbs, sugars, whats the serving size? how much is it? What are the ingredients?

You get what you pay for with this kind of thing.

Ok i'll compare the stats to my regular whey protein shake and sustagen.

Whey Protein

Average quantity per serving/ Average quantity per 100g

ENERGY 114 Cal, 380 Cal
PROTEIN 23.7G, 71.9g
FAT,TOTAL 1.5G, 4.8G
- SATURATED 0.9G, 3.1G
CARBOHYDRATE 1.9G, 6.3G
- SUGARS 1.2G, 4.0G
SODIUM 46MG, 154MG

sustagen

Average quantity per serving/ Average quantity per 100g

ENERGY 225 Cal, 375 Cal
PROTEIN 14.7g, 24.5g
FAT, TOTAL less than 1 g, 1.1g
- SATURATED less than 1 g, less than 1 g
CARBOHYDRATE 39.2g, 65.3g
- SUGARS 34.4g, 57.3

When it comes to amino acids, it looks as though sustagen has more amino acids.

Sustagen is way cheaper. Costing me only about $7 for 1 tin. My whey would cost me about $50. The amount i get in both containers is almost the same. The whey container has is only half way full whereas the sustagen is filled to the top so even though my whey product has a bit more, it's not by that much.

Average quantity per serving/ Average quantity per 100g

ENERGY 114 Cal, 380 Cal
PROTEIN 23.7G, 71.9g What whey did you compare with? most whey os 80-95% protein if its good.
FAT,TOTAL 1.5G, 4.8G And it doesn't have this much fat!
- SATURATED 0.9G, 3.1G
CARBOHYDRATE 1.9G, 6.3G
- SUGARS 1.2G, 4.0G
SODIUM 46MG, 154MG

sustagen

Average quantity per serving/ Average quantity per 100g

ENERGY 225 Cal, 375 Cal
PROTEIN 14.7g, 24.5g The serving size must be huge 70-80g? and it still only has 24.5g per 100g protein which is not much.
FAT, TOTAL less than 1 g, 1.1g
- SATURATED less than 1 g, less than 1 g
CARBOHYDRATE 39.2g, 65.3g What the?????
- SUGARS 34.4g, 57.3 < penny drops!

Sustagen is cheaper because its filled with SUGAR. Its a weight gainer and a cheap and nasty one at that looking at all the sugar, you want diabetes? To get a decent amount of protein you have to take in 57.3g of sugar which is ridiculous.

You havent put the ingredients, which were more important really, but I am betting that there is a lot of either maltodextrin or dextrose in it.

Comparing it to a whey is not a good comparison, this stuff is a weight gainer and will probably make you fat.
