Essential Supplements

Hi All, ive got my diet in check and training.

What supplements would you believe are essential.

So far i use:

Whey
CEE
Glutamine
Multivitamin

is this essential enough? Was thinking adding ZMA in there aswell. Is AAKG (Arginine) worth having?

Re: Essential Supplements

i think i might not go for Arginine as all it does i feel is give me a pump. For the money i dont think its worth it. Not 100% sure if ZMA is though

Re: Essential Supplements

SportDR has written some info on Arganine being beneficial before bed time, think it helps with GH production. Have a look in the article section, sure it was in there, but can't remember where I read it now.

Re: Essential Supplements

Hay Ollie

Mate I would stick with

Whey
L-Glutamine
Vitamins & Minerals
Fish Oils

They are the only things I take to substitue my own dietry needs but optionals would be

CEE (creatine)
Arginine
No-explode

these I only take when on cutting and need that extra boost, saves alot of cash too!

These are the ones I would use IMO

Re: Essential Supplements

Hey Oli - i got some Arginine EE from myprotein and i did a leg workout last night a boy my legs where pumped.... Arginine also aids blood and nutrient flow which i see as essestial while working out!

Try some mate if it dont work, then dont buy it again! i cant comment on No-Explode as like you say it is too expensive!!

Hey Shorty, Ive tried that stuff from myprotein before and its like No-Xplode. It is good but is it worth the price though. I do get a pump but i dont see what you benefit from a pump rather then not using it. Would you think ZMA would be more beneficial?

So far i use:

Whey Ok, but use a blend other than PWO
CEE Good stuff, but not essential
Glutamine Again, not essential
Multivitamin By far the most essential

Save your ZMA money & spend it on good food. The only other supplement you really need is an essential fatty acid. I use a few things, but ZMA & all the pre workout formulas are not what I call essential, and especially not if on a restricted budget. If I had to choose two supplements to take & ditch everything else, it would be a strong multivit & some EFA's every time.

What Multivitamins do you recommend Nine Pack?Centrum ok or do it need something better? I use flaxseed oil in my meals as my fats.

Re: Essential Supplements

AAKG can be a good supplement, providing your diet it tip-top. i get mine from bulkpowders.co.uk, pretty cheap and soes the job.

correct me if im wrong, but the general idea of arginine alpha ketoglutarate is that is expands your blood vessels, flushing more blood into the muscles, (causing the 'pump') and providing your diet is high in protein and other amino's, when the damaged muscle comes to rest and repair, it can do so better and more efficiently because of the additional nutrient rich blood surrounding it. something like that anyway, sorry for waffling on!
