As I'm out shall I load on creatine?

Hi,

As I posted in the General section, I've broke my wrist and will be out for 2-3 weeks minimum. I'm gonna keepmy diet clean, even though generally its good and routine. As well, I'm gonna train legs and cardio.

At the moment I'm hitting 200 grams protein a day give or take 25-50.
While I'm out I'm thinking about loading on creatine, to help keep my strength and so that I can come back hitting the floor running.

Is this a good idea or shall I wait until I'm back before I hit the creatine?

Cheers everyone.

Id wait until a week before your going to go back before loading, then when you start training again you can just do a maintenance for 8 weeks or so!

Re: As I'm out shall I load on creatine?

OK gangst here's some facts;
Extreme Nutrition 'DO NOT' advise a loading period, we know its a waist of time and product.

Creatine is naturally occurring in the body so doesn't cause shutdowns etc
Creatine is used as energy in EVERY muscular contraction
Creatine can amplify the occurence of muscle tears if not properly hydrated
Creatine is not toxic to the body, if it is a reputable, pure brand (our lowest HPLC test was 99.8%)

So the answer is, you don't need to cycle it, just don't take too much.
Hope this answers your question.

Re: As I'm out shall I load on creatine?

hi XL, from all the studies i have read if creatine is in mono form it is best to load to create a pool of creatine in your muscle cells, something also advised from the likes of reflex nutrition, prolab, etc...do you not agree

Re: As I'm out shall I load on creatine?

Extreme have taken the moral high ground there Genesis and rightly dismissed the pseudo science of loading.
All this does is serve to have the user using too much of the product, and forces them to buy another one long before they would need to.

When you do get some creatine, I'd suggest trying one of the CEE type with the ethyl ester. It comes with all the benefits, but less downsides like sub cutaneous water retention, bloating & G.I tract discomfort sometimes associated with creatine monohydrate. There are several makes on the market to choose from.

Studies show that 5g per day is as effective at increasing creatine stores, as a 5 day 30g load, follewed by 5g per day; after 30 days of use.

You just end up p1ssing less down the toilet.

Nine Pack is correct here and as i said you dont need to load your just waisting your money and product.
Once again 'Nine Pack' is right in pointing you in the direction of a CEE types and there are many good ones about, try CNP as they are quality, until ours comes on the market
As for amounts 3g - 5g you will find is enough to take ok.
