Smile Leucine Advice

Well after a rather crap xmas a new year which included working far to many hours, abusing my body with alchohol and crap food and now having a chest infection i've had time to regroup and prepare for the new years training. I have never been a massive user of supplements apart from protein powders apart from the odd time here and there which always lacke any real conviction. So I have decided to add 3 new supplements to my programme, they are cnp ce2 (would use the bulk powders one but I have very sensitive palate), l-glutamine, and l-leucine. I am going to start the year with a 4-6 week cut (Drug free) to give myself a leaner base on which to start 2007's mass building plan. I would like some advice on how to include the leucine into my programme. I will also be using cnp pro-recover pwo, cheers Dale

Re: Leucine Advice

I may be wrong here but I thought amino acid profiles worked best together?

The only amino I add is L-Lysine and that is for cold sores, first sigh of a cold sore pound that stuff and it wont take hold.

That and L-Triptophan to help me sleep.

But I would be very interested in hearing from someone who uses Leucine with good results, I need to shed some holliday flab myself.
Good luck bro.

Re: Leucine Advice

I've put an order in with myprotein for some stuff, one of which is the leucine.
Cut and pasted from their site about its doseage etc...

We recommend consuming 2 - 3 grams twice daily. For optimal results take 45 minutes before your workout and also post workout. One serving should be sufficient on non-training days.

Re: Leucine Advice

Never used it before singly, I take it in my EAA caps. Might be worth supplementing for your chest infection now though, 3000mg Vit C daily would do nicely.

They do as a protein, but some aminos have some useful properties of their own, Taurine for example does a fair bit if you read up on it, good for blood pressue apparently.

I take 3g twice per day with creatine, (when I remember, :( )

OK, thanks.
My BP gets high some times and I should give that Taurine a try.

Wow, the mouth shot I doubt that would be of much help there.

I always get them and every beginning of summer when I go out and get any sun, I will get cold sores, every year every same time. Have forever as long as I can remember.

Re: Leucine Advice

Alright Dale the leucine is a good amino acid to take alone or stacked alongside Arginine for increased GH.
You need about 3 grams of each, id take the leucine & Glutamine before bed, on an empty a stomach as possible if you had the 2 together and then a chicken breast or pint of milk the amino acids wouldnt be utilized properly.
Another option is to take the leucine pre training and the Glutamine post training, pre training 3-4g leucine and as much glutamine as you want after training, i usually use about 10g of glutamine after training and before bed.
Im not sure to what extent but Glutamine is also supposed to convert to GABA a neurotransmitter that was banned in this country a few years ago.
Ive just reread your post, if your having the cnp pro recover after your training your gettin enough glutamine in that so id have the leucine pre training pro recover post trainin, and glutamine before bed

Re: Leucine Advice

I thought that was L-Arginine and L-Ornithine for GH production at night before bed?
I think it is closer to 8-12 grams last I checked for GH production.
Also carbohydrates will limit GH production due to the presence of insulin.

Re: Leucine Advice

I think taking amino's for GH release is a waste, GH itself is moderate if injected, I doubt much/any effect would be seen from any icrease due to amino's.

Just my opinion,

Re: Leucine Advice

arginine & ornithine have been shown to increase gh levels but leucine & arginine have shown to be even better at 3g each there was a study done on it at some italian university which was pretty interesting if i can find it i'll post it. Your right about the carbs thats one of the reasons they are best taking on an empty stomach

Dude, I would love to see that study big time.
Argenine infusion is used to test GH responce when deficient.

If you can find that I would be very happy, id give you reps big time.

I love learning new things......................If you can post that id just love it...., but in english please.......I cant speak Itallian.....
Cheers..........

Re: Leucine Advice

Use it PWO, 5-7g dose. It helps to stimulate protein synthesis via mTOR.

There are a few interesting studies that were published last year with leucine and its potential anabolic affects.
