Is ethadrine still banned? - UK-Muscle Body Building Community

I used to use ethadrine for cutting, but I can't find it anywhere now... I know it got band a while back but I thought it was made legal again?

I just heard today that a buddy of mine just bought some and that it is not a banned substance anymore.
I have no idea where he got it or what it is called though but I just heard today it is purchasable.

No offence but I do find it a bit scary.

Do you know the potential side effects or why it was banned in the US?

I am pretty sure 'natty' competitors can't take.

Ive looked into this and ephedrine itself isnt bad for you unless you have some sort of underlying medical condition, It was temporarily banned in the states cos a few kids were takin 10 times (or more) the reccommened dose, exercising too hard or in the heat and keeling over dead, same happened to a few baseball/american football players too i think

In small doses it pretty much has the same physiological effect as caffiene

I used to use it myself, it was great for cranking up the intensity of your weights workouts and it made cardio so much easier

I don't think it's banned in this country mate, my pal got busted a while back aqnd they took away 2000, he got them back though...(got 4 years for other things 'an all....lol)

Actually quite positive it is a IOC (International Olympic Committee) banned substance as peeps who get tested are told which 'flu strength' rememdies they can't take as it has psuedo phenylephidrine it it, which would show up like ephidrine.

Sida Corfelia (sp) is also banned as that ? converts to the active metabolite ephedrine, SO the herb Ma Huang is the same thing, I think European name is just Ephedra.

The ban may have been a bit BIG BROTHER, however, if you are a drug tested athlete, olympic contender, natty who acutally plays by the books, then DON"T take.

Hi Ephedra HCL and its herbal stable mate Ma Huang are banned in both the USA and UK without perscription , you can still buy the raw herb Ma Huang from chinese medicine shops though it will need processing so is next to useless . You can also get it in chestese from boots believe it or not but you need a plausible story to prise it from the Pharmisist .

Sida Cordfolia is not banned in the this country indeed I have it in my fat burner Lypodryl and that contains 8-10% Ephedra Alkoloids and is very effective some say more effective than Ma Huang ..

actually I have heard that in the states pocession of Ephedra is very serious now a federal offence or something .. they are having a right witch hunt over there regards supplements tis scarey

Ephredrine is illegal in the UK without a prescription. It was made illegal in the USA about a year later, but the last I heard they overturned it after the FDA were taken to court over the ban. However, even though manufacturers can use ephedrine again you will not likely see any legitimate ones do it for fear of more lawsuits. The only US companies selling it (that I know of at least) are small ones that dont care if they have to fold and then setup under a new name should they get shut down/sued into bankruptcy etc..

You have to remember that as soon as ephedra was banned in the States, hundreds of opportunistic Americans decided that their assorted ailments were down to taking ephedrine based products. The most ridiculous one for me, was a guy who'd had heart problems all his life, and despite warnings that he shouldnt take ephedrine (or any stimulant) still did so. After continuing to use ephedra for several years he eventually had a heart attack (quite possibly not related to the product at all!). When ephedrine was then banned, he sued the retailer and manufacturer for causing his heart attack and was awarded millions. This is just one case of many. At least five well known US Manufacturers had to file chapter 11 bankruptcy due to these court cases, just to be able to survive and continue trading. Likewise there were those cases of high school athletes taking ridiculous dosages. As with anything like this in the media, its always the fault of the product rather than the misuse of it by the person themselves.

In the UK, I very much doubt ephedrine will be made legal again. The MHRA are very unlikely to U-turn on that one. Even yohimbine is illegal for non-medicinal purposes now and that has nothing near the side effects of ephedrine.

Thats correct - its illegal to sell without a license, which means unless you're buying it from a chemist the person selling it to you is doing so illegally.

They did ban it but it was never banned totally.
Primatene tablets have ephedrine hydrochloride 12.5mg
BRONKAID Caplets have 25 mg ephedrine sulfate

Both products are over the counter.
