| UK-Muscle Moderator | i have just started usin whey consortium whey protein concentrate. it mixes ok in blender. throths up abit to much for a shaker cup. i have to add some crusha strawberry milshake liquid because i cant stomach the taste of the stuff on its own which is the only downside because its 32g of carbs in 100 ml(would have thought from sugar). apart form this though i cant grumble at 30kg for 165 quid. just thought id let people know my opinion in the stuff |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Did you mean that the protein has 32g of carbs per serving or the milkshake liquid? One of the reasons I never tried tmof or wc protein is that if you get it and find you dont like it, you're stuck with an awful lot of it! At £5.50 per kilo its a good price though. I get bored of any single protein when I have a 5lb tub though let alone 30kg. I loved prolab pure whey vanilla flavour to begin with, but I'm sick of it now and I still have 1/3rd of a tub left! |

| UK-Muscle Moderator | sorry mate the milkshake stuff has 32g of carbs per 100ml (which is about what i use a day). probably will get bored with it but i will put up with that for the price. the wc stuff is 75% protein, 8% carbs and 7% fat and some other stuff makes up the rest but i cant remember what. |

![]() ![]() | Virtually everyone I know loves the reflex instant whey, so it is a very popular product. As for the whey consortium stuff, as robdog knows, i down it unflavoured. Its an "aquired" taste, but you get used to it. Actually prefer it to tropical cell-tech atm. Yuck! Thinking about it, there must be some sugar free, or low-cal milkshake mixers out there somewhere, else all the kids teeth would rot out. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | hmm, im not convinced by super cheap whey. I think to a degree you get what you pay for, and off all the seriously big boys i know, and people who compete, not one of them uses it.... Maybe use it to make up MRPs during the day, if you cant get food, but i'd stick to the likes of AST VP2 for PWO. Just my 2 cents... |

Turbo - instant whey is a popular product, just not normally with us so I'm a bit suprised by the sudden demand. Perhaps its cos we changed our prices last week. Perhaps we weren't very competive on that product before. We do offer a price match promise, but people are always reluctant to take you up on these - they'd rather go to a store that already has that price. We dont really push reflex that much. This is firstly because they are one of the more expensive brands to get in - strange since as they aren't subject to import tax like american brands you'd expect them to be cheaper, and secondly because I dont tend to use their stuff myself. I like to promote the brands I've had the most success with - SAN, AST, Prolab, Dymatize, CNP etc.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Sorry mate, missed the question. Well, there are several answers to that. Firstly since supps aren't well regulated, its tough to be 100% sure that whats on the label is in the product. Generally people trust the more established brands for this. Not that I'm suggesting for a minute that wc dont meet their labels - I have very little knowledge of their stuff. Some brands have been accused of adding various fillers to their products and when lab analysed, the product has come out higher in carbs and lower in protein than the labels specify. Secondly, the quality of whey depends on many variables - including whether it is concentrate, isolate, peptides or a combination, as well as how it is processed. Certain processing methods can kill the value of the protein, whilst others keep it almost 100% intact. For instance I never touch ready to drink proteins. Anything ready to drink containing whey or any other milk derivative has been pasteurised. This diminishes the value of the whey considerably. Whey is sensitive to heat. AST did a good article on rtd's in a recent issue of their magazine, explaining how the processing kills the protein value. We sell a particular rtd in our gym, but I recommend against using it. We only continue to stock it because the customers like it and ask us to keep it in. I think I read not long ago that they lab analyzed a popular rtd protein (wont say which one) and it was no better quality than a slimfast shake! As far as processing techniques go: Avoid: Acid Hdyrolyzed and denatured proteins, Choose: Proteins where Cross Filtered Ion Exchanged, Ionized or Microflow techniques are used |
