![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Glutamine users.... Hey Just wondered if any of you fellas use glutamine as a supplement, and what your experiences of it are. I'm a student so I try not to spend too much on supps, but I wanted to know if getting some glutamine was worth it. Cheers, Jock |

![]() ![]() ![]() | hmm, hard call. I get mine v cheap, so can afford to be liberal with it. IMO i find it very good. I use it 1st thing AM (10g), during my workout mixed with glucose (10g), and just before i go to bed. (5g) I personally find it reduces muscle soreness, and improves my condition. It acts as a cell volumiser (apparantely-not sure how true this is though!) However, if i had to pay the full wack for it, i dont think i'd a) use so much or b) probably use it atall. so its a hard one that.... would prob still use it though.. i think... ??? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Long term, I'd say glutamine is more important than creatine. The thing with glutamine is that you dont get instant results in the form of strength or muscle gains - so its not as popular as creatine. Glutamine does many things. It speeds up recovery time considerably for one. Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the muscles, accounting for 60% of all free aminos. After a workout, your glutamine reserves are extremely low (or at least they should be if you’ve worked hard enough!). If you dont replenish these stores quickly then the chances of catabolism setting in are much higher. Glutamine also has a cell volumizing affect, reduces protein breakdown and helps guard against over training. This is all even more important when you are cutting up. Most online stores do glutamine. The one we sell most of is Reflex Glutamine - and I use that myself. I very rarely use creatine these days, but I always take glutamine. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I realise what your're saying bob, and I agree that it's not a 'fashionable' supplement (creatine is a waste of time IMO). But would I really notice the benefits if I took 20g a day a long with a good diet and heavy workout shedule??? Or should I save it for cutting?? I usually spend more on supps when I'm cutting in an effort to reduce muscle loss (EFA's Multivititamins etc( Cheers, Jock |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thats the thing really Jock, you aren't likely to see immediate obvious benefits (except perhaps feeling a shorter recovery time between workouts). Its more of a slow burner. This is precisely why many people would rather take creatine - everyone wants results now rather than later. Its by no means an 'essential' supplement, and you do get some amount of glutamine from most protein powders anway. The most beneficial time for it is whilst cutting because this is when you really are at huge risk of losing muscle and glutamine will help fight it off. Perhaps if your budget is a bit tight, then saving the glutamine for when you're cutting is a good idea. Glutamine's 'muscle sparing' qualities are probably the best reason for taking it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I had good results with the Sans v12 It has: Tricreatine Malate (Tri-Creatine Salt) N.A.G(N-Acetyl L-Glutamine) Betaine (Trimethylglycine) Glycocyamine NitroArginine(Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate) Taurine I got some strength from it. In fact that was one of the only products that I have bought that was worth buying, besides protein. |
