Protein time?

I have been working out at the gym for approx 2 months now and recently i ordered some 'whey protein concentrate 80'. Currently, i am trying to lose some fat so have changed my routine at the gym to incorporate approx 20-30 mins on the exercise bikes at a lower heart rate AFTER doing my usual weight training (i have read that you burn fat quicker after a weight-workout as opposed to before). Therefore my typical routine, which i do 3 times a week, consiststs of:
45-60mins weight training
20-30mins exercise bikes at 'fat burning' heart rate.

My question is this, should i take the protein after the weight training? (as it could be close to an hours workout without any protein) Or should i wait till after the entire gym session (weights AND exercise bike) to take my protein?

Thanks for any help given guys :beer1:

I would try and cut your weight session down in time to no more than 40 mins tops and then 20 mins cardio. Shake straight after the entire 1 hr session. 45 to 60 mins of weight training seems a long time to me mate. Not sure what reps you are using but if losing fat is the aim I would use high reps and low rest periods and you will be going in the right direction imo.

Its a good idea to have a protein drink before or during your workout as well.

I would advise also doing your cv session before your weights workout.

1. It will get the blood pumping around the body
2. You are undoing any hard work on the weights (your muscles need to rest after a good weights session)

Also i second the protien before and after training,

Happy training dude!

hmm are u advising this coz goodgabba is cutting now rather than bulking or just in general, its just seems to me that a lot of people on this forum do their cardio AFTER the weights.
If i dont do it in the morning before food I do it after my weight seshion, just doing 20 - 30 mins of LIT(low intensity) cardio. From wot i understood doing it this way means that u have allready used up aa lot of energy (carb storage?) and therefore u will get into fat burning a lot quicker. if u do it the other way round surely u will use up all your energy before u get to the weights.
n e one else have an opinion on this?

i personally go for after - and drink my PWO during my cardio, low intensity cardio for me too - normally 30-40mins on a treadmill 6kph/10% incline

Agree 100% mate... Hit the weights first when your fresh and you will go into the fat burning zone quicker when you do cardio post workout..

goodgabba as long as you get your PWO shake down you within 30-45 min after you FINISH your weights session you will be fine, but it wont halm to take if first if you want to..
