PROTIEN : : why in foods over shakes?

All the time i see people questioning why sio many people drink shakes instead of just eating the foods, i do it because i dont have time to eat 5-6 meals in the day simple as, but why is the protien not as good as it is in say chicken or eggs etc?

Sorry for asking silly questions but i just dont know why this is and its been pestering me all day

Also im going to be buying protien flapjacks to eat and be drinking about 4 protien shakes a day starting in a week or two, but i dont want to be wasting my money, i know it will still help anyways but i just thought protien was protien?

anyways thanks alot for any help

to be honest mate i don't know either i drink a few MRP's and shakes because of time and my job in fact i have competed successfully whilst using 2-3 MRP's per day.

the only benefit these days is that you burn more cals if you eat protein rather than drink protein.

varying your protein sources would be better.

because foods are full of vitamins and mierals which all aid the breakdown and absorbtion of food.....

foods take longer to digest than liquid shakes so its a slower release of protien..

but sayin that pscarbs looks good on what he has to fuk it...

what MRP's do u use pscarb?

Yes, good post babe.

Also there is more of a thermogenic effect of eating food than drinking liquid.

The reason that some foods are better than protein shakes is purely for the biological value of the protein.

For instance:
If a human was to eat another humans muscle tissue then this would be a perfect match to build muscle tissue from.
But as we dont do this then we have to get our protein sources in other ways.
Chicken, eggs, red meat have the higest most matched biological value followed by whey protein. Where as nuts and seeds have a much lower protein match to what we need to build muscle.

It gets all very complicated when you start breaking it down and looking into deeper.

But I hope you get the jist of it. :o

You want to look at the amino acid profile of the protein/whey you are using, people keep saying "whey is just whey", er, its not.

The different levels of processing whey effects the amino acid profile you ingest, not a plug but our whey uses 2 different concentrates and an isolate so we can get the amino acid profile we wanted.

This is why blended products should give greater gains than whey on its own.

As PSCARB says using a quality MRP gives you vits, mins, as well as protein and carbs. Again our one has 2 carb sources and 4 protein sources so is digested like a food in a time release basis. This should offer a better opportunity for absorption than just whey and maltodextrin.

When Jo won the BNBF Miss Figure this year her diet was 2 meal reps, 2 wheys and 2 solid meals, she was bone dry, ripped to fork and passed a drug and polygraph test, so living on supps did her no harm and the improvements she made in 6 months were astounding.
