Just add a little butter in there and you have a good balance of quality carbohydrates, quality protein and a good source of fats. Don’t use margarine or hydrogenated oils that would ruin it. Easy, that equals one good meal. If you are not satisfied then double the quantity and be satisfied. Oatmeal in the morning is awesome. Lowers cholesterol and is a good complex carbohydrate. Does not spike blood sugars and it is good for diarrhea. Just thought I would toss that in. But that is true. Robin, just keep it simple but not too simple. Take your time fixing up your food and enjoy it, there are few things in life that one can enjoy without guilt and that is good quality eating. Your body will love you for that and your friends will be jealous. Cheers M8

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | One guy who trains at our gym from time to time, mixes tuna with coke or tomatoes. Makes me want to vomit just thinking about it. I like mixing protein powder with yoghurt, fruit and non fat milk. You get protein, carbs, vitamins and calcium then. Calcium is an underrated bodybuilding supplement. Many bodybuilders are deficient in calcium (largely because they tend to leave out dairy products as they think they make you fat - bit of a myth but I wont go into that now). Lack of calcium can causes parathyroid hormone to be released - which causes bones to become brittle, and more importantly to many bodybuilders - it causes catabolism (muscle breakdown). This is because when parathyroid hormone is released, it takes calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum in the muscles and takes it to the blood to raise blood calcium levels back to normal. Obviously you dont want this. Several studies have shown that supplementing with calcium and magnesium can stop the release of parathyroid hormone. In those studies, the guys supplementing with calcium and magnesium all increased their lean muscle mass.
