Powerlifting Question

Just a quick question for any Powerlifters on here... what does equipped and un-equipped actually entail ?

I'm hoping to start my first powerlifting routine in the next couple of months, currently aiming at upping my 3 lifts and improving my grip strength as I've always deadlifted with straps and finding the difference tough (getting there though, lifted 200kg today without straps). I'm really looking forward to a new challenge and if things progress as I hope I'm hoping to enter a local Comp next year, but I don't know exactly what kit is allowed in each of the catergories ??? Any input would be much appreciated, thanks !!

depends on what federation you compete in. Unequiped generally means all you are aloud to wear is a lifting belt.

As far a equipment you would be aloud to wear the following:

for the squat:
squat briefs
squat suit
knee wraps
belt
wrist wraps

Bench press:
bench press shirt
wrist wraps
belt
Leotard

Deadlift:
breifs (same as squat)
deadlift suit

What footwear is prity much down to you, tho for deadlifting flat shoes ideally deadlift slippers (dance shoes) would be best.
As far as federations go it would depend on wether you are aloud to wear single or double ply suits, double ply suits being thicker and so giving you more support and generally help you lift more. Also knee wrap lengths, generally either alound 2m or 2.5metre length knee wraps.

Does that all make sense to you and answer you question enough?
