blood work

whats the best way to get bloods done at the doctors? i usually get them done privatley but financial situation is really bad at the moment, coming to the end of a test/mast/npp blast and ive been getting some discomforting pains in my kidney area, also my urine has a strong unpleasant smell. it could be nothing but for peace of mind would like a blood test. ive learned in the past saying i would like a test as im on steroids isnt the wisest move...

Saying you are on steroids is the wisest move, if you don't tell your GP how will he/she be able to give you the relevant tests?

perhaps your right, just past experiences have shown it has not benefited me from saying, my last blood test everything was fine apart from CK and liver values, but that was put down to being on perscription accutane. was thinking about saying im on pro hormones lol

Don't tell your doc you're taking steroids(IMO), it will be on your record for ever. Just tell your doc you're felling unwell and that you want a full blood count and urine test done for peace of mind. Request a copy and post up on here if you're unsure of the results- there's loads of guys on here that can put you straight based on their own experiences. And if you really want peace of mind, then Id recommend a consultation with 'bentley miller'.

Better to have that on your medical record and remain in good health (IMO). After all you aren't doing anything illegal.

True and if you ever get taken badly ill to hospital they will diagnose you quicker.

Or don't tell anybody. have a serious operation that could kill ya.

Forgive me if this is an obvious question.

What operations could you have that had complications due to steroid use?

I understand, but personally I would not want it on my record- it will be there for ever. The legality of it is totally irrelevant. Unfortunately going from what guys on here say, your average GP has very limited knowledge in this dept. To be honest you'd get better advice and feed back by posting blood results on here rather than rely on your GP.

Re: blood work

i talked to my doctor today about getting blood tests done. didnt mention steroids though. he said he would only do them if theres a family history of high lipids, or heart problems etc. and as im young theres no way he would bother doing tests on me

Re: blood work

If you needed a blood test - tell your doc your were recently overseas and currently feel ill; he'll be sure to do one for you then no questions asked. Or alternatively if you say you are generally unwell he should do blood tests to check your overall health - this is your right and make sure you tell the doc this.

You have to give him a reason to test you...Just tell him you have a dull ache on your right side under your rib, and gererally feeling unwell and tired.

Re: blood work

my doctor is a bit of a nob tbh.
but you want them to test specific things like cholesterol levels etc. and theres no way there going to give you a hormone panel unless you say you cant get an erection or something?
