![]() | Steroid/anorexia Debate!! She thinks that me going on uk muscle(ukmuscleporn as she calls it) and posting about steroids is no different to the girls who post encouragment on the pro anorexia websites. She watched the programme about the pro anorexia sites and she says they all do the same, jump to the defence and make excuses for why anorexia is ok, and why the media and programmes slating anorexia are all bullsht!! She said you always have an argument ready to counter negative comments on steroids/ steroid deaths/bad media etc etc. She sees this as promoting steroids- Whats your thoughts- apart from your missus is a tit- I KNOW. |

Not that i have anything to add on it thats really, Legitamit. But my lass calls this website, Gayukmuscle. I'm pleased i am not alone brother In regards to it being the same as anorexia, i guess it is ... but only in a way that we on this board all want to look better, a cause. And people on anorexic boards want to look better, well in there eyes. A cause. - I suppose to the public eye, there both very extreme cases. And are really at opposite ends off the spectrum. Its easy to look in and pass judgement, Ignore her if it really bothers you. |

You surely cannot compare the 2....anorexia is an actuall illness..can't say the same that "bodybuilding" is. i agree, that steroids are dangerous when abused but so is sugar if you have very large quantities of it.... I just think you're GF is misinformed about steroids so was I until a few months ago...i blame every on this site for making want to turn into a druggie... |

Bodybuilding is about looking good on the outside, but also on the inside. thats where the diet etc comes in, anorexia i agree is an illness and theyre ill on the inside aswell, however how can we truly know if your ok on the inside is her argument.

I think in a way, from a unbiased view point you could compare the two yeah. NOt just steroids, but bodybuilding. Their is links between the two. Obviously im not speaking in a negative manner.

I'm not speaking in terms of death of illness or anything like that, i just mean. Striving for something, A certain look. Is a similarity between it, They do it because they think there fat. A lot of us do it because where think where skinny etc. I'm not comparing them, in such an extreme manner. And it wasnt meant to come across as a criticism of the board or people on it |

I think the similarities people are thinking of are largely in the mindset, I'd say there are definite and multiple similarities between the mindset of a dedicated bber and an anoreia sufferer. But lorian hits the nail on the head. If you "practice" anorexia unchallenged, there is only one inevitable outcome - a slow, dehumanising death. If you practice bodybuilding to extremes, then this simply isn't the case, and while I am one of the few that accept that it is unhealthy on many levels, until I see as many bodybuilders in hospital as drug addicts, obese folk, alcoholics etc, then I am not going to worry too much. |

I don't think she is a tit at all - just misinformed ![]() She sounds like an intelligent girlie so tell her to get reading & researching before making judgements - when she can back it up then she can have a look at that analogy once more. She hears about steroid abuse not steroid use so most probably is unaware that BBers go to great pains to look after their health.

End of the day, anorexia is a very serious psychological disorder. It's true that there probably are similarities, IE the sheer drive to better yourself every day and to strive towards a certain look. However there are a huge number of quite severe differences; anorexics try and isolate themselves from the rest of the world and often think people are plotting against them to try and make them fat; they are completely delusional as to how they actually look; their bodies are extremely unhealthy and weak etc etc. We are just striving for a type of physical perfection; for a number of individual reasons obviously, but the majority of us aren't suffering organ failure as a result of training, eating and gear; the majority of us don't completely isolate ourselves from the rest of society; a number of us probably have fairly high self-esteem (gunnage) etc etc. There really is a huge difference, although there are also some striking similarities in mindset and lifestyle. |

Sounds like it has more to do with her than you mate, is she trying to justify something she knows is very un-healthy i.e anorexia (which can lead to rapid bone/organ damage and death in many cases) by bashing something you do relatively safely? Don't see anyone here encouraging people to jump on AAS either, just merely offering advice on the safest way to use if they do decide to jump on, and to get relevant check-ups to ensure health is monitored. Sounds like she's being defensive and making herself feel psychologically more secure by having a bash at you, and taking attention away from addressing her real issue to me. May be wrong though... |
