Gear and General anaesthetic

Hi guys just wanted to know if it's okay to go under general anaesthetic whilst on cycle. My pal is flying out to have an op done in two weeks and is currently on cyps 600mg a week and wasn't sure if it's a problem.

chars!

Re: Gear and General anaesthetic

Tough call. The anaesthetics themselves (the common ones at least) have no listed cross-issues with gear - but if something were to go wrong the gear may affect the issue - for example an unexpected bleed would be trickier to stem with lower platelet count.

Even if he chooses to come off, in 2 weeks he'll still be full of juice. Silly boy.

Re: Gear and General anaesthetic

If your going to get cut up then its deffo an issue, not from gear per say but from the side effects that gear can give you.

I would tell the doc if it was me,

Think about it, gear will up your bp and red cell count, that will make it more difficult to control blood loss.

Re: Gear and General anaesthetic

Yeah he didn't exactly think this through. He said he told them but they immediatly said they'd need to take a blood test first to then decide if he was okay to go ahead with op.

Re: Gear and General anaesthetic

NO! Definitely do not go under a general and have major ( I assume) surgery whilst on gear. The main risk is that gear will seriously affect the way he bleeds and forms clots. This could kill him depending on the type of surgery. I know of one patient who had an angiogram (little camera inside your blood vessels) and died.

A pal of mine was told to come off all gear for months even before they would remove a little cancerous mole from his chin!

What op is he having done mate?

Re: Gear and General anaesthetic

I know it's not a great idea, but I was on the gear when I had my hernia op. I got an earlier appointment than expected with 2 days notice so I stopped immediately.
Didn't notice anything going wrong apart from when i woke up I wanted a go on the nurse and she was a pigdog, so the test was still working...

He'll kill me for saying haha but he wanted to know :tongue10: he's having the bags removed from under his eyes. He's getting on a bit now haha.

I guess it's just upping the risks ten fold.

Hardly a life threat.....so just come off and delay it?

If he's having them cut out then its gonna be a bitch to heal.

His life tho.

Re: Gear and General anaesthetic

Im not sure but i think aas increase your tolerance to certain drugs, so in effect if the anaesthetist calculates the amount of anaesthetic required for his body weight, i think there is more of a chance of not getting enough or getting too much..

Not 100% on this but getting put out is very serious, even i came off for a couple of months before i went under lol

Re: Gear and General anaesthetic

PMSL. Here's me thinking he's having a heart surgery or something. Well if the surgery is minor then so is the risk. The problems from bleeding I mentioned probably won't apply here.

As above though, his response to the anaesthetic could be unpredictable. Tell him to stop being a girl, get the gear out of him and THEN get his crows feet nuked lol.
