" 'Sports' drugs even more damaging "

Here's a steroid-related story from BBC News. It relates to the results from that Channel 4 program that's on tomorrow:

interesting... giving them 3.5mg test enanthate per kg of bodyweight per week... that isnt much.. so for someone my (old size) of 125kg, that is only 437.5mg test per week..not an awful lot.. i am reall yinterested to see the outcome of this. i supppose a lot depends on whether any oif the 'athletes' used AAS in the past. EQ if a newbie was to use ~450mg/week it would do a lot, but i i used it, it wouldnt do half as much..

I was really looking forward to that program but now having read that I think it's just going to annoy me by perpetuating the same tired old mass media hysteria created myths to an ignorant population.

That about sums up my thoughts. I think we all knew it would never be an honest outcome.
I know the immune system can be reduced by steroids. What they failed to mention was that it's only a temp thing. There is a steroid called Kenalog which doctors are happy to prescribe to guard against hayfever. It's main task is to reduce the immune system but there does not seem to be any problem in prescribing it.

Yes roids do have side effects but most of them can be over come by being responsible and learning how to combat them. That's why we have things like Nolvadex and Clomid on hand and use PCT.

To be fair, I don't believe it would be wise to tell the world how great roids are but if you're not going to be honest about it, then don't do the program at all.

This sums it up for me

"For many people, the only source of scientific information is the mass media. That's really too bad because they miss out on a lot of interesting findings and cool studies. But what do you think would happen if their favorite newspaper or news program talked about the latest research on steroids? Why, there'd be outrage! That's because everyone "knows" that steroids kill thousands of people every day! Those lucky enough to survive turn into raging lunatics who bust out car windows with their heads and rape anything with an available orifice. "

Yes, we will.

Remember that the BBC News story is in effect the 'second pass' of media people over the facts. Maybe the first pass, ie the Channel 4 doc itself, will be more even-handed.
