UK Legal situation - importing for personal use - UK-Muscle Body Building Community

Hi (new to this particular board).

I heard steroids in UK law are:
- legal to possess if medical quality
- illegal to buy and sell
- legal to import for personal use (I believe personal use = 3 months worth max)

Do these rules and regulations still stand now? - May 2004?
I even sent an email to Customs and excise. Couldn't find much on the website. Perhaps you can prove me wrong:

I am travelling out a country where pretty much any steroid is legal and no prescription required. It's not seen as an issue as people here don't have the money to spend on this sort of thing; if you do then you're very welcome to.

How is personal use defined? I don't want to end up with it all confiscated because there's too much. - And I certainly want to stay legal. I believe it's 3 months worth?

Should I:
- send it back to myself via the normal post
- send it back to myself via UPS or similar
- take it through customs via hand luggage
- take it through customs via hold luggage
- declare it through customs

I'm going via France on a direct transfer flight. Will there be checks relevent to french law on this stop off bit or is it just the foriegn side of the arrivals lounge?

Failing all this I have the option of living out there I guess!

I should add that it's a French speaking dependancy. Anyone know the names of Anavar + Primo in french? Will the generic names be enough? (Oxandrolone + Methenolone Acetate)
^ these are latin right, so should be the same in french medicine?

I dont know what the rest of the guys think who know more than me. My advise would be to post the goods to myself through normal post. I wouldnt like to take the gear through customs even if you can, because im pretty sure that youll be put on a list and then big brother may be watching you!!

Post them bro, if you are caught in posession you may not be charged but it may be the start of a lot of hassle.

Bloody hell? you e-mailed customs? ffs, why don't you just stick a big badge saying 'I'm importing drugs' on your t-shirt, it's a much easier way of getting caught

he was right to email cutoms imo at least they will tell him where he stands and its not like he is importing herion or coke. if more people did this there would be less hassle for customs and less hassle for the people bringing a bit of gear in for themselves.

Well, yes, thats the point, an e-mail address holds all the details that customs can easily assess, right down to IP address...

Ive gotta go with Insanity on this one. If an email contact with you personals have been left you most definatly will be put on a list. Perhaps for many they would be happy with that, but i for one wouldnt because if at any time for what ever reason the **** hit's the fan it is dirt that can stick.

well, i know several people who have emailled customs and have had helpful responses and havent had the door kicked in by the knock. It is merely asking a question, 'is it legal' etc etc.

if you walked up to a policeman and said 'excuse me sir, is it legal to stab someone' they arent going to arrest you are they?!!

Its a grey area of the law, so asking if it is legal to bring something in isnt going to get you arrested is it?

I know a few people that have asked customs directly, no problem with doing so, drug smugglers don't and they know that!

I would post it anyhow.

exactly what can customs do just for asking a question, arrest you?? last i heard you had to actually commit a crime and get caught for them to do anything. also i would have thought that they had alot more on there minds with terrorist threats and importation of hard class a drugs than a bloke with a couple of hundred quids worth of gear for his own use. it cost thousands in survalance(sp), intelligance and man power to catch someone at it so do you realy think they are gonna start watching you and keeping tabs on your every move just for asking hyperthetically(sp) if its ok to bring say a 12 week course of gear into the country. like biker says a drug smuggler aint gonna ask if its ok to bring the stuff in.
