![]() | INSULIN AND WAXY MAIZE STARCH (WMS) Hi guys, Just a quick question. Im currently using insulin in my cycle for the first time. Have noticed the full feeling already and it has only been 4 days. But I have a quick question regarding PWO Shake. Because of the insulin (which i take immediately after training) my post workout shake consists of: Dextrose 100g Hydrolysed Whey 80g Creatine 20g Gltuamine 10g Now I have been told of the virtues of Waxy Maize Starch (I know what your gonna say lads, "if it aint broke dont fix it!!", but I have been told WMS is a better alternative to Dextrose. My question is seeing as Insulin is now part of my cycle, and that WMS is not a sugar like Dextrose, is it still safe to substitute the Dextrose for WMS and not risk the obvious consequences of Insulin?....Wouldnt I be safer ingesting a sugar such as Glucose or Dextrose whilst on Insulin?? of course, aspirate at all times, but if the pin moves about when jabbing, and your only the tiniest gap from entering the vein/capillary then **** can happen. always gotta be cautious, especially with slin!

![]() | Re: INSULIN AND WAXY MAIZE STARCH (WMS) Christ, dont even want to think about that!! Had the misfortune of injecting Tren Ace straight into a vein once!! Never had an experience like that before, put it this way, AT THE TIME I WAS DOING IT IF I HAD KNOWN A NUMBER FOR A FUNERAL DIRECTOR I WOULD HAVE CALLED HIM MYSELF!! lol....I actually have a smile on my face now when i get Tren Cough!!, means i missed the vein!! ![]() But you wouldnt get that second chance with Slin!!!!! |

The problem with mixing WMS with dextrose is that WMS has a very low osmolality (a low level of osmotically active particles) whereas dextrose is the opposite (which is why WMS gets absorbed quicker than dextrose). This, therefore, interrupts the osmotic gradient that the WMS creates in your stomach and thus negates the benefits of it. Whilst it isn't technically a sugar WMS can still cause an insulin spike, but as you're taking it PWO this helps to shuttle nutrients around your system quickly, which is kind of what you need anyway. I even use WMS as an energy drink during my workout without any adverse effects; I also take some for my Karate sessions and have certainly noticed an increase in my energy levels. So, go ahead, dive in to some lovely WMS - it tastes like cornflour but just keep reminding yourself that it's good for you. Get it from myprotein.co.uk where it's only £5.99 Kg at the moment and use referrer code MP16886 to get yourself 5% discount. | |

![]() | Re: INSULIN AND WAXY MAIZE STARCH (WMS) Hi BodyUK. So can you just confirm one thing for me. I am cycling insulin for the first time, can I safely take WMS as my PWO Carbs and sugars to negate the onset of Hypo...or do i need to take sugars too as im using insulin? |

![]() | Re: INSULIN AND WAXY MAIZE STARCH (WMS) You should be ok dude. Try the WMS, but if you're still worried about it have some dextrose to hand and see how you feel say 20mins after you've done the WMS. I wouldn't mix the two as you won't get the full benefits of the WMS. |
