Exclamation Flaming of Newbies

Please could everyone read this.

Imagine the situation, you don't really know much about steroids so you come onto the biggest UK bodybuilding site to ask the guys in the know about cycles and how to best use gear.

You might not even be thinking about it seriously but just want some information. Or you might have started and now are worried about the side effects because you bought off a big guy in the gym who didn't really explain how to use properly.

Obviously as a young guy the pressure is on you to be bigger and more toned in the gym and to impress the girls and you know that steroids will help you get this because someone who was big told you.

So you think you may have made a mistake but are a bit reluctant to admit it and so post up on the board something like this

'I am new to steroids have been training for a year or so and want to see more gains, I have already started my cycle and need some advice on how best to use'

And the response?

'Oh you are too young for steroids'
'Oh you are not ready'
'oh you are stupid for starting gear and not researching it'

And thats it. No helpful advice on warding off sides or proper PCT or maybe a natural alternative such as a good diet, supplementation etc.

So how would you feel if someone said that to you when you were worried and needed some advice.

I do feel that there's too many guys who sit on their podium and flame new members unneccesarily. If you dont have anything constructive to say then dont say it or you may be on the wrong end of an infraction.

Thanks guys

Good post i agree, also when your new to a forum and you see people with 2,3,4 hundred posts and more you can feel a little inferior with less than 20.

I totally agree with this. i feel that for some months now this board has become a soap box for some right moany buggers to stand on and take the moral high ground.
all this "go away and do some reading and come back to us when you weigh twenty stone" is all rubbish just like most of the information on the net.
lets help people best we can and make the board grow!

Re: Flaming of Newbies

I don't totally disagree Tom but I don't totally agree either, in the context you have put it you are correct, a well meaning noob, with an interest in gear, who is showing responsibility by asking does not deserve outright flaming, but in itself some of the comments you mentioned are actually good advice, they ARE too young, it IS too soon and they SHOULD research it. This advice whilst bluntly put is golden IMHO.

The well meaning noob you have portrayed does deserve more than that I agree and the posts I have seen were always balanced, some people being blunt, others explaining why, overall they got a solid balanced answer, that is the nature of a forum as is the freedom of speach.

The fact is a lot of the posts asking about gear are not so well meaning, treating us like a bunch of drugged up meatheads who 'of course' are just gonna hook them up with a heavy duty course and a dealer to boot praising ourselves for creating another convert in the process. These people do not show respect to the sport or the board and its members and get what is coming to them, again IMHO.

I don't do the flaming, so I dont need to post this to cover my ****. I try to steer people onto a healthier path with balanced advice, that being, you ARE too young AND why that matters. To go into too much detail would be preaching so sometimes blunt is best. What matters is, they dont have to look far to see other posts from me helping them with attaining there goals naturally balancing my approach.

My point is, that you may not like the responses, but people answering from their hearts or their experience should not be told what they can or cannot reply, within reason, and whilst some may give blunt answers because its the 30th 'I am 18 and a hardgainer how can I sidestep any hard work by using gear?' post that week, there are others that take the time to balance the responses overall, the moderators should trust the community to do the right thing and this sticky is just one step closer to our democracy becoming a Dictatorship, is that what we are all about?

Re: Flaming of Newbies

TBH I think you're missing the point mate

This board is a business first and foremost and newvies who get flames on their first post will never come back and word of mouth spreads fast.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion but without a reason for them saying
'you are too young' etc the post is useless and quite patronising and most probably the guy will go away and never come back.

I would never agree to censorship and what you're saying about a democracy turning into a dictatorship is not really what happens because this board has rules and one of them is not flaming people like the US boards which is why this board is one of the most popular.

Posts like these are normally deleted mate cos it would be sourcing requests.

I like how you convey information in your posts mate cos you always clarify your statements but this is not what I'm talking about.

This is not only my opinion, I referred this to the other mods first.

If the community did the right thing every time there'd be nno need for mods lol

I know what your saying, but at the sametime taking juice is a very serious matter and shouldn't be taken lightly in any way.

Tom just on the subject I understand what you are saying, but my fear from your post is that the next time a 18 year old asks for advice he's going to be given it without any form of warning.

This board has never "pushed" gear on people no matter what age they are, it's always looked for alternatives first. I understand that blatant flaming isn't on but people still need to be aware that it is far from condoned that youngsters take juice.
