Newbie's first crack at competing - Solent City July - now July 2010

Hi Guys,
Just looking for some advice and not too much flaming - looking to do my show the novice class at the Solent City show in 4 weeks. Ignoring that I've got no routine and no idea how to pose my main worry at the moment is what I should be doing diet wise in the last 4 weeks. I'm training weights 5 times a week cardio 6 times a week currently 90 mins of cardio a day. I've been dieting for 3 months bringing my calories down to 2500, 200g carbs; 250g protein; 110g fat eating eating every 2 hours or so, drinking at least 5L water a day. I've got a plan for depleting then carbing up in the last week and finally dehydrating the night before. What should I do diet wise over the next 3 weeks. I've still got some stubborn areas of fat to shift - should I be cutting the carbs right back of just plod on with a plan thats worked ok so far. I figure pics tell u more than anything else so here goes; any advice welcome- about anything!

Looking great bud, reps!

Hopefully one of the experienced competitors will be along in a bit to help out but one quick tip is to get your elbows up in both the double biceps shots and play with degree of elbow flexion - I think your arms will look a lot better with a bit less bend and the elbows higher than your shoulder joint...

Good luck at the comp!

Go for it mate. If you need any advice, ring Don Styler the show organiser and he`ll sort you out. He`s a good guy and been doing the show for some 30 yrs or so. I`ll be there watching and looking forward to this one. Don`t panic and just enjoy it.

I think your doing fine for 4 weeks out mate, well done.

90mins cardio 6 days a week is decent, but I would prob step it up a little, maybe 60min in the am and 60 min PWO 7 days a week.

Also maybe reduce the carbs slightly or try to cycle them a little for the next three weeks?

Have you had somone prepping you or have you done it all yourself?

Are you using T4, Clen, effy?

Keep it up mate

Re: Newbie's first crack at competing - Solent City July 4th

lookin good mate,

i would carb cycle have 3 days low at 100g carbs then 1 day medium at 200 then back to 3 days low then a refeed day of around 400g carbs.

as magic said increase cardio and i would lower fat down to 50g of the medium and refeed days above and drop fats on low days down to 80g.

Just changes that i would make bearing in mind i have never competed etc.

Hey incredible bulk,

Cheers mate - been rading your journals this year with interest - looks like you've had one hell of a roller coaster already - wiedly I'm pleased your gonna be there - particularly as I'm a 'scummer" and I'll be thinking about that when I kick your ass!

To Magic and Torch-
thanks for the tip - gonna give it a go - I've steered clear of low carbs so far as I find it usually makes my immune system pack up and about 3 days in everything crashes I end up sick and not training and it takes me 2 weeks to get back to normal - but I'll give that a shot and see what happens....

To magic - Yup I done all the prepping myself - looking around for a bit of a help but its a bit thin on the ground in Southampton -

H

Condition looks good to me especially for a first timer, dont do any thing overly drastic in the last few weeks or you may mess it all up.

If i was you i would slightly increase protein and slightly decrease carbs or perhaps fat and increase cardio.

Off the subject of diet, I would consider bringing your arms higher in your front double bicep mate, give the illusion of more width to your lats IMO.

Looking awesome by the way - good luck !
