![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Rightyho Well, that's the end of the week and everything is aching, especially hamstrings which feel like they've been branded, abs which feel like I've been kicked by an angry midget, and calves which feel like someone has fused the ankle bones so they no longer bend. Fantastic week of training and everything has been included for once - including lower back, traps (which I despise training) and forearms. Appetite is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy up on where it was a fortnight ago, to the point where I'm now eating every hour and a half but small portions. Everything is starting to expand (except waist ) and there are plenty more weeks to keep growing before making the swop to a cutting regime.Off season food is basically pre-comp food but lots of it so when it comes to cutting this year, there won't be the sudden shock of waving goodbye to the drive thru at McDonalds or the Turkish lads at the Kentucky chicken. In fact, I think I've been to both twice since my show last September. Clean, almost bland food has become the norm now though I did spice last night's grub up with a packet of McCoy cheese and onion crisps which actually got me drooling. Sad life. ![]() Training partner is on holiday for a week from this afternoon, so I get to drop back to a nine day split before his return (yayyyyyyyy), when I will then be trying to persuade him that seven day routines aren't necessarily the way to go. Have a great weekend folks.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Rightyho Training partner is topping up his suntan on hols, so legs alone this morning. Kept it horribly simple but also horribly effective. A two set warm-up then eight straight sets of 10 rep squats with a pause at the bottom of each rep and not quite coming all the way up - stopping an inch or two off full extension. Blowtorch time. Kept the weight light - just two plates a side - but kept the rest between sets to a minimum - 75 seconds - so ended up huffing, puffing and blowing hard for the last two sets. Then onto four sets of leg extension to full extension to properly recruit the inner teardrop head of the quadricep. 15 reps per set. Calves at 3pm on the seated and standing machines, plus some donkey stretches off a step. probably 3 sets of each, 15 reps or thereabouts. Food is balancing out and I'm starting to harden up but also gain weight, which is very much the plan. 1) Pro-glutamine 2) Pro-Peptide, oats, Pro-Vital 3) Fast Twitch before training 4) Pro-Recover, Pro-HMB, Pro-Creatine after training 5) Beef, potato, green veg 6) Pro-Peptide, oats 7) Chicken, potato, green veg 8) Pro-Peptide, oats 9) Fish, potato, green veg, Pro-Vital 10) Pro-Peptide, oats, omega 3,6,9 oil blend This seems very easy to stick to and in its current format is giving me 300g protein, 400g carbs and 50g fats per day. The plan is to stick with it all the way through to the show, just fine-tuning the quantities as we go. The foods in themselves are pretty spot on for when I need to curtail calories and start to cut. The omegas are coming from a cold-pressed hemp seed oil on sale in Tesco at £3.49 for half a litre. Similar 3/6/9 ratios to flax (a little lower in 3s, a little higher in 6s), but less of an aftertaste and much cheaper.

All I know (secondhand info from other people) is that he quit his job, sold his flat and no-one's apparently seen him for a while. He didn't come to my wedding in January and I've not heard from him since - his two mobiles have been cut off and so has his mum's. I assume he's just upped and moved away mate. Would be good to hear from him.

He seemed to be very into his training and seemed incredibly knowledgable from what I read. I know he had a few personal issues, but I do hope he's OK. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Rightyho Today is can't move my legs day. From not having done much in the way of squatting for a few years now, yesterday's gentle reintroduction has all but left me pinned to a chair today. Glutes and, oddly, hams, seized up last night but quads this morning just said "no" when I asked them to propel me from my bed. I can't recall, even when my knee was normal years ago, EVER being this stiff and sore. Now walking with two straight legs and shuffling like an old man who's soiled his pants. Can't wait for the next squat session. ![]() Bodyweight is up to 14 stone 10lb, too, so it's all moving in the right direction. Looking at last year's log, my waist was 36" at 15 stone. It's 32" at 14 stone 10lb this year. The plan is to add just 6 more pounds between now and July 1st, then begin the cut. If I can reach 15 stone 2lb and retain a 32" waist, I'll be one happy chap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjtVvYk1HWw - this link shows Tom Platz getting 23 pretty effortless-looking reps, apparently with 500lb. ![]()

In essence, it's a combination of muscular development (obviously), strict dieting (obviously) and not a lot else. Awesome, innit. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Rightyho Thought I'd pop a picture up of top European champ Robert Piotrkowicz with my mate Marcin's dad backstage. Marcin's dad (Marek Markwat) set two world bench press records in the over 50s class a couple of weeks ago and is coming over to England to holiday with Marcin soon. It looks like he'll be having a few sessions in the gym and we're hoping he can do a little seminar. Marek also has input into Robert's diet and training strategy and, while it's far from confirmed, Marcin is finding out whether Robert might visit the UK at the same time as Marek. I'm hoping, if he does, we can organise a few seminars for him to pass on his knowledge and maybe get some shots of him training for The Beef. All to be confirmed but it's a small world.... I was looking at Robert's photos in a Polish bodybuilding magazine one of my members subscribes to and asking out loud how the hell he got like that when Marcin pipes up: "Ah, yes, Robert. He's good isn't he. He trains with my dad. I'll ask my dad to find out for you....." Lol. Anyway, two pics for inspiration and the hope these guys might be coming to the midlands soon. ![]()
