Re: Rightyho

Lol mate - I used to race and test bikes for a living, binned loads and never got injured.

The leg injury came from being booted down a flight of stairs at a nightclub - still not entirely sure what happened because it came from behind me.

Landed to find the quad detached, lower leg bone had come through the skin, patellar tendon snapped, kneecap smashed and internal bleeding from a ruptured vein or artery.

8 hours surgery and 2.5 years off training. Been back into it about 7-8 months now.

Have done 3 squat sessions since 2004 but bringing quads up with 50-200 rep sets of extensions and 20 rep leg curls.

Will see what happens at the UKBFF qualifiers....

Oh man, that leg injury is brutal.
I cant believe that you rehabbed that back to life.
DAmn, that is some impressive motivation.
REspect man, respect.

Re: Rightyho

In fairness - all credit to a chap called Pete - a semi-professional footballer and football physio who worked on it 3 times a week for the first year.

Then a chap called Wayne Pickering - who won the Mr England class 3 a few years back and is a deep tissue therapist started on it and did a further year and a half - hurt a bit.

It's still not quite right - no feeling in knee area and only about 85 per cent of bend / travel. There's also some calcification of the area and the knee itself is a lot bigger than the other.

Now I have a "second chance", I'm intent on using it.

I'll be trying to qualify in Novice under 80kg (if I shave everything off and live in a binbag for 2 days before) at Steve Avery's Gravesend Classic. If I fail to qualify there, I'll give up eating for another two weeks, become gaunt and deathly-like and bash out the Yorkshire show a fortnight later.

Don't fancy the Leicester show at all - hated the venue as a spectator.

Only done one show ever so far and pretty nervous to be honest. Need to work on my posing etc and get my nerves in order.

Re: Rightyho

I'm 5 ft 7 inches and currently 84kg. I was 86kg at this point for the Lincoln show, so will be tighter at the WABBA novices next weekend than the Lincoln. Will probably be a shade over 81kg by the time I drop my water.

Cardio = 2 x 30 minute sessions a day - 30 minutes spin bike before brekkie fuelled by nothing and 30 minutes fast dog-walking to the park and back at 12:30am just before bed. Dog hopes I stay on a diet.

Carbs = 300g day 1, 200g day 2, 100g day 3, 0g day 4 and repeat.

Protein = boiled chicken.

Fats = flax, peanut butter and walnuts.

Training 6 days out of 7 - with upper pecs and hamstrings twice a week cos they're the weak parts.
